DISDAIN: An exploration into hate.
This album is a journey through all the hate I hold within me. Hate as a driving force for change, rather than as a tool for oppression.
I hate oppression, and I hate the oppressor. I have love for humanity and this planet, but not as we are now, and my hate drives me to contribute through my art to creating the world we deserve.
These 14 songs explore these feelings through my typical dark lense, from my perspective on religion and politics, to silence, to the planet, romance, interpersonal relationships, and life itself. I hate the hateful and I see no place in this world for people of that kind if we wish to live in a world that serves us all equitably.
I want you to feel angry, to feel hate, but I want you to direct it towards those who deserve it, those who oppress us. Not because someone is a different race, or sexuality, or gender from you. Not because of your ignorance and failure to understand. And if you do hate for those reasons, I want you to feel confronted. Hell, even if you don't I want you to feel confronted, because maybe then you will be driven to self reflection, and you can begin the work needed to become the person the world needs you to be.
Growth shouldn't stop until the day you die. We should always be striving to be better than we were yesterday. I'm just getting started and the path is long, but it's longer alone than it is together.
