Serge Modular Synthesizer

A demo patch using Random Source Serge modules.  Smooth / Stepped Generator is producing complex square wave from its coupler.  This signal drives the hard-sync of the NTO resulting in undertone and overtone series.  A stepped LFO from the DAW drives the NTO's frequency.

01 Smooth / Stepped Generator

A demo patch on the Serge Modular 4U system built by STS.  ADSR was cycled at audio rates via sine wave to "Sustain" in and triangle wave to "Gate" in.  The modulating oscillators from the NTO were further SYNC-d to a complex pulse from the Smooth / Stepped Generator or FM-d from a PCO.

Serge モジュラーシンセで作ったパッチ例。ADSRの電圧をエンベロープとしてではなくオシレーターとして可聴域で発振させています。「Sustain」に正弦波、「Gate」に三角波などを送るとオシレーターのように振る舞います。さらに送る正弦波をSYNCやFMなどで変調するとなんとも言えない「邪悪」な音質を実現できます。

02 ADSR Manipulation

A demo patch on the Serge STS 4U where the ADSR is being driven as an oscillator by the NTO.  The NTO in turn is soft-SYNC-d to another oscillator.  This combination can yield a harsh but fat texture, reminiscent of industrial machinery.

A demo patch on the Serge STS 4U where the ADSR is being driven as an oscillator by the NTO. The NTO in turn is soft-SYNC-d to and FM-d by another oscillator.

Using the VCF at various settings on the Serge STS.  The NTO was FM-d at a low frequency.

05 vcf crazy

A sample patch using the "coupler" function on the Serge SSG.  The Smooth side is in self-oscillation, sending a pulse to the "Sample In" with the Sample side also in self-oscillation.  When the two oscillation rates reach a certain ratio, the undertone series can be heard.

06 Serge SSG Sample

A sample from the Serge STS approximating the undulating "Reese Bass" sound at various pitches.  This sample may be downloaded and used freely in a DAW.

07 Serge Reese Bass

A demo patch running the NTO through the DSG, with some dynamic filtering.  Very non-linear.  
The pitches are F1 - D1 - F1 - C1.
Can be downloaded for editing in DAW.

Test patch using S/H as a clock source for arpeggiation.

Sequencer patch on the Serge with one voice going through a Sample and Hold.

10 Sequencer Duo

A "cybernetic" feedback patch on the Serge.  The emergent chaos is playing itself.

Cybernetic patch with a dendrite and axon part.  Three VCO's are mixed together and fed into a comparator, then a peak circuit.  This then triggers a VCFQ.  The VCFQ signal is then slewed to produce an envelope which is in turn fed back into the frequencies of the VC0's, cut-off of the VCFQ and so on.

20 Tik Tokker

A 3-dimensional chaos generator patch using the double-well problem from quantum mechanics.  A strange attractor was generated through procedures outlined in the video by La Synthèse Humaine.
