Moxie Presents Vol.1 is the first instalment of a series of compilations i’ll be putting together reflecting the amazing new talent I champion on my BBC Radio 1 & NTS shows.

It includes exclusive tracks from some of my favourite artists, showcasing the different textures and sounds I like to hear both on the radio and in the club.

Samuel van Dijk is an electronic music producer, sound designer and media artist from the Netherlands, having released electronic music under a variety of projects, namely, Mohlao and VC-118A. With his current project Multicast Dynamics he creates ever-evolving sound textures culminating in intriguing soundscapes while preserving a tranquil cinematic atmosphere. Drawing inspiration from nature, technology, film and fiction, his music productions, live sets and audiovisual work presents a carefully arranged, recorded and processed body of work, using a vast amount of layered sound textures, field recordings and live improvisation. In May 2015, Denovali Records released the first two albums of a four part series by Multicast Dynamics, conceptually linked by our undeniable connection with nature and its wide range of landscapes, colors and movement. Now the third album called SCANDINAVIA follows in October 2015.  The album series moves from an evolutionary to a cosmological scale: Starting from dry land filled with light and streams, to the constantly changing surfaces of the oceans, into a frozen and murky underwater world, finally up to the arrival in an interstellar space and the cosmos. With this concept Multicast Dynamics explores organic and aqueous worlds in a dreamlike and spiritual appearance.

'Outer Envelopes' is the fourth and final installment in the four part album series. 
It is a continuation of exploring, written on a grid of time by constructing auditive scenes. Technically the album was composed using noise generators, home-made modular synthesizers and experiments with voltages - in short, by combining analogue and digital technology. The album is complimentary to the previous three albums and their logical continuation at the same time. Focused on the animated world of sound, van Dijk transmits celestial soundwaves to discover new uncharted sonic territories. He sends a time capsule out into a fictional space, exploring the unknown and placing sonic beacons which create eerie soundscapes and detailed textures.

Glasgow-based Craigie Knowes are back with their annual fundraiser for War Child, this being their third year in a row contributing to the charity. All profits derived from the sale of the two part compilation records will be donated to the foundation dedicated to supporting children and young people who are affected by war. As has become the norm for the Scottish staple, the releases will feature a variety of producers with a fairly diverse palette of sounds, from jungle to breaks to acid and beyond. Making an appearance on the first of the editions will will be Luke Vibert, DJ Overdose, Cynus, TEXTASY, ASOK and London Modular Alliance, who we have the pleasure of premiering today.

Ruggamuffin from London Modular Alliance is your prototypical jungle track throwing it back to the heyday of ragga as the track's title not so subtly suggests. Chopped drum loops, breaks and snare rolls? Check. Classic reggae and dub instrumentation and vocal samples? Check. Bone shattering bass meant only for speakers capable of reproducing the lowest of frequencies? Check. This track clearly wasn't made to reinvent the wheel but what it does is successfully builds on the existing (albeit classic) models and throws us on a bit of a nostalgia trip. Both London Modular Alliance and Craigie Knowes show once again that they're not looking to label themselves as purveyors of any particular sound and are unafraid to colour outside the lines. In a wild flurry of primal rage and intoxication, she’d approached the venue hours earlier, flung her coat and bag in a nondescript location and launched herself at the dance floor. As the hours ticked on and her senses reemerge, the coin drops and her face implodes with concern. “…I’ll be back”. Edging towards the door whilst unwanted and unwarranted male attention attempts to set its claws in, she wraps up the conversation for the sixth time and manages to leave the room. As she retraces steps and does her best impression of her inebriated self, she systemically checks each pitch black corner and crevice for her mostly dark and featureless possessions. As she clambers over outstretched legs and through condensed groups of people lacking even the most basic levels of social awareness, worry spreads across her face. “What on earth are you doing?” a voice says whilst prodding her shoulder. She turns around to find her mate, carrying her bag, coat, half a cloakroom ticket stub and a bemused expression on her face. 

We’re delighted to premiere a new track by seasoned producer Herb LF, and the first release on fresh-faced label International Extraterrestrial. With over two decades of experience, the German producer has shown versatility of style, dabbling in everything from UK Garage to Minimal Techno.
