Growing up in the deep south of Germany with multi ethnic friends and big interest in many different music genres of the world, Borrowed Identity built his wide knowledge in music. This variety in his musical taste is also the reason why he is working under different aliases producing a big variety of sound from ambient to house to experimental music and everything inbetween. Borrowed Identity debut EP on Quintessentials is another great example for his multistyle approach to music. You’ll find elements of house, disco, techno, ambient and more – always with an imminent love for music. Borrowed Identity released his first 12” inc. a Mark E remix on Foul&Sunk last year. That was just the start of an impressive career we dare to say. Borrowed Identity is a music freak and works very fast on tracks. Guy Gerber's Supplement Facts, Traveller Records (Finland), the Legendary Sound Research, Stripped & Chewed (Chicago), Catz N Dogz Pets Recordings and soon Mistress all released some splendid Borrowed Identity tunes. And we do the same!

How I Feel

I often find it hard to separate the emotional and methodical while making music. So tonight I challenged myself to make a song in an hour (it ended up being an hour and twenty seven minutes); working quickly and without developing the emotional attachments to sounds and ideas that would otherwise keep a production hidden in the deep and dark depths of the hard drive, silently hoping that maybe, just maybe, it might just one day see the light of day. An eclectic and rising force, Cecil’s sharp sense of dance floor storytelling blurs the lines between Indie Dance, House and Techno and is rooted in classical training (incl. performances at Carnegie Hall).  While his latest EP Hip Aliens hit #1 on Beatport’s Indie Dance chart, Cecil’s also founder and resident at Burning Man soundcamp Miki Beach, and has brought his sound to Burning Man’s DISTRIKT every year, Hideout Croatia, Floyd at Club Space, Amsterdam’s A’dam Tower, and way beyond.

Cecil has shared line-ups with a myriad of top artists, including DJ Tennis, Maceo Plex, Bob Moses, DJ Three, Echonomist, Art Department, Paco Osuna and Stacy Pullen, while continuing to build his discography with numerous well-received productions.
