Soundtrack for the Function 2021 winner demo "cöncept": https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=89840 - originally a 12ch tracked XM.

So this was a tough one to work on; I really wanted something era-appropriate for a DOS demo, and just finding what the right tone was, what the right sound was, and then what the right chord progressions were was so hard that it was probably the only time that the visuals caught up to the unfinished music.

In the end though, I'm 99% happy with it and it was nice to wiggle the tracking muscles a bit.

That One Gotham Love Remix By Bakground

A Remix of an Atari YM2149F Chiptune by !Cube.

I kept the remix close to the original melody and chord progression, because that's what the song is about.

For anyone interested in the production side of the song:

Produced and mixed 100% in Propellerhead aka ReasonStudio Reason.
Main SID/synth lead and bass lines are created with the Thor synthesizer.

Toni aka !Cube kindly provided me with the original and unzipped SND file so I could load it into the STEEM emulated instance of the MaxYMiser tracker.

From there, I meticulously transferred note for note into the Reason sequencer.
The challenge was to get the portamento/legato and vibrato right in the lead melody.

I made a song about a city I have never been to...

São Paulo is the capital of Brazil’s largest state, also called São Paulo. It is home to more than 41 million people. The city is known for its large helicopter fleet, wet weather, gastronomy and the skyscrapers. It also hosted to 1950 and 2014 FIFA World Cup. São Paulo is ranked among the top 10 most populous cities in the world. It is Brazil’s largest urban area, bigger than Rio de Janeiro. The city has numerous cultural institutions and a rich architectural tradition. Graffiti on the streets of the city has been approved by the city authorities, just like Rio de Janeiro. One famous street is Beco do Batman, an open-air wall-gallery. The art started in the 80s with a single drawing of the DC superhero character batman, other artists soon followed suit and spray painted their art on the walls. The street is located in the Vila Madalena district. Its cobblestone back street is an open-air gallery for some of São Paulo’s finest street artists.

The Megasong Project
====================

Description:

The Megasong Project is a demoscene music project initiated by Fabian Del Priore aka Rapture to bring together talented demoscene musicians and trackers from all over the world, combining their forces in one big music piece, which they bring together in collaboration; each participant is working on a part of the song (each one working on a few patterns or so), before it's the turn of the next participant and the tune is handed to him. The end result is a massive coop tune, but sounding as homogeneous and consistent as possible.

The first Megasong is made in Spacesynth (think Laserdance/Koto) style, but thinkable for the future are all kinds of styles with all kinds of different musicians, a different song length, different software to work with and so on and on, so the whole project is flexible to the max!

I would define and imagine the Megasong stating the following basic features:

Style: Whatever the given group of musicians can agree on, everything is possible: Chipmusic, Demomusic, Gamemusic, Soundtracker ST-01 / Earlymod, Techno, Trance, German folk musik, experimental, whatever... Mainthing is working together on a FUN project! :D

Length: Minimum 10 minutes, maximum 30 minutes
Number of participants: Minimum 5 participants, maximum: Open end, but we shouldn't exaggerate here or else organising it will be complicated. ;)
Platform/Software: Depends. Could be anything from any tracker to any DAW (Digital Audio Workstation / music studio environment) like Steinberg Cubase. The music group must have roughly the same experience on the same platform. For DAW's like Renoise or Cubase, only freeware VST Plugins will be used (no commercial plugins) and exchanged between the group, so that every composer can take part on the project without any hassle!

For the first Megasong project, the following talented demo scene musicians could be engaged:

- Serpent (Touko Väre)

Supremacy (Tel Me More) W.I.P.  Update March 12, 2018

I worked through the entire weekend putting more and more things together on W.I.P. Supremacy... Also worked in, some of the feedback I got from several music friends (Thanks for that!)

I added the first addition of the recorded choirs (there will be more of that). In case you wonder? Yes, the voice is mine (dubbed as a choir many times over).

Still "missing" (intentionally):  The main lead arpeggio! /|/|/|
When they're there eventually, they will be eargasmic.
