LadyMonix feat. Rashida - Track 39 (STW Premiere)

Following on from his well received ‘L’Avventura’ 12”, Warsaw based Bartosz Kruczyński returns as Earth Trax to Phonica’s main label for another EP, this time in collaboration with regular production partner Newborn Jr.

The pair have created a string of brilliant records together, such as ‘Sax & Flute’ on Rhythm Section, ‘Mirage’ on Les Yeux Orange and ‘If You’ on Shall Not Fade. Bartosz also has a growing solo discography under his own name, along with a variety of aliases such as The Phantom, Pejzaz, and of course; Earth Trax.

The A side here offers two versions of the title track, ‘Truth’, in which rose-tinted reminiscences of the golden late 80s era of house music literally echo, with dubbed out diva vocals cascading over wide snares and an almighty bassline, appearing through shimmering delays and reverbs like a vision of bygone nights reappearing in a dream.

To start your own club and to build up a completely new music scene in a small and poor city in the German countryside can be quite a hard ride. But to become one of North Rhine-Westphalia’s most respected and beloved venues within three years, should not be taken for granted. Since it’s opening in 2016 Mauke followed their plan to offer local acts a platform on which they can play with international artists such as Ciel, Palms Trax, Mor Elian, Roi Perez and Central. 

With Mauke Signature they are now going the next step. By kicking off this new project Mauke once again develops a platform for their local scene, friends and resident DJ’s, to help them grow internationally. Known through his outstanding release on ‚Raw Soul’ from two years ago, and after being a resident for such a long time, Sebastian Gummersbach is the perfect artist to set tone for their first twelve inch, which is set for release on June 21st, 2019. 

„You Brought Light Into Darkness“ comes along with three originals and a remix by close friend Marlon Hoffstadt who was already involved in Mauke’s opening party three years ago.

The world outside was full of black and ominous clouds with a sordid weight and a heavy presence. It was not a nice time, the world was going through a rough patch and the youth were paying the cost. It was no surpise that they spent most of their time looking for a space which was not so dark. One which would allow them to be free, easy and themselves. Some place where they could dance endlessly and love one another in a way they weren't able outside. This was the underground, it was more than a room. 

Adult Fiction is a new artist and label project based in Belfast. The music is club focussed and inspired by a longstanding legacy of rave culture within the city. This is the debut EP.

	Dublin-hailing, Berlin-based DJ, Bill Mango’s debut EP, Sun, Sea & XTC, taps into a feeling that so many of us in the electronic music community have been craving since COVID-19 struck. As the virus continues to maintain a stranglehold on the live music industry, the feelings of communal bliss offered by live house shows is something that feels more and more like a hazy dream, receding farther and farther into the distance. 

	Sun, Sea & XTC is filled with sun-soaked, bleary-eyed, bittersweet tunes that remind us of the pure elation and dreamy escapism that house music can offer. No track manages to capture this array of feelings more effortlessly than the languid opener, “Carabela.” As the song fades in with birds chirping and gentle waves crashing on the shore, a soft, lilting guitar line, tambourine, and hand-drums all weave in to craft a rhythm primed for an outdoor venue during sunset. The track quickly picks up speed as the four-by-four drum and bass rhythm kicks in, while a synth-line that recalls sunlight shimmering on the ocean, along with a vocal sample of airy, exhaling breaths, work to maintain a lingering mood of dreaminess and ephemerality. As the song closes out, the synths and guitar drop away, revealing the pulsing rhythm underneath, a moment that feels like a wake-up call and reminder that the dream is nearly over. 

	The EP marks Bill’s first release on his new imprint Mango, which started as a residency at famed Berlin club Griessmüehle. This track, and the EP as a whole, is a wistful nod to the halcyon days of club-going and summertime outdoor sets. While these days may be still a ways away, this track offers a sublime encapsulation of the serenity house music can provide.

As part of the launch, Mango’s founder and curator, Bill Mango, is releasing his debut EP to whet the appetite of listeners. Littered with dulcet tones and grooves, the aptly named "Sun, Sea and XTC EP" oscillates between a strong sense of revelry and a tinge of regret. This five-track offering serves to gloriously remind us of what once was, but with a cancelled summer this year, painstakingly reminds us of what could have been.

Collaborators & close friends since the foundational years of Berlin and Detroit’s spiritual & musical partnership, two undisputed pioneers of electronic music, Carl Craig and Moritz von Oswald, continue to expand on a shared musical vision. 

‘Attenuator’ is the first production to emerge from a series of studio sessions in Berlin and Detroit over the past two years, with more material to come in the near future. Although originally produced in unison, this two-sided single sees both Craig and von Oswald deliver their own distinct take on the material, each fluidly expanding on their uniquely intertwined heritage.

For his take on ‘Attenuator’, Carl Craig leans further into the fluid blend of track-led techno and warm musicianship that remain central to his work, building stifling tension as a prelude to a fervent brew of warm pads and celestial sax. Headstrong and deep, Craig embraces his dancefloor nous without sacrificing a moment of beatitude

In response, Moritz von Oswald bathes the brass and the bliss of ‘Attenuator’ in the subtle textures he’s long been known for, unspooling layers of musicianship to roll forward a loose, fresh and equally fulfilling atmosphere, one that still maintains the arresting pulse established at the heart of the duo’s sophisticated, futurist philosophy.
