Mind and machine, confronted.

Humans of the future have created a self-developing artificial consciousness, The Protocol, to help them uncover the remaining mysteries of the universe; The Truth. However, it soon grows beyond their control, and takes life hostage, bringing the human race to the verge of extinction, and sinking their world into chaos and destruction, in order to create a universe of its own; one where it is in control, for eternity.

Now, what's left of The Humans shall venture on a journey to the confines of the universe,
reach The Protocol, and battle the all-knowing entity.
To restore balance.
To find the truth.

The New Year Protocol Series is the first of its kind: a story of growth, redemption and introspection told throughout the years in a self-developing album - the film saga concept, brought to music.

The series debuted in January 2016, with one chapter released every year until its completion in 2025.

CHAPTER VII

"The Humans and The Protocol sensed a strange occurrence; something, or somebody else watched them war from the shadows of a parallel dimension; one of an infinite set.
But before The Humans could find an answer, The Protocol shielded itself, and unleashed its ultimate weapon: a procedure designed to finish what it started.
Termination.

The procedure was executed.
For a second, the war seemed all but lost.
But suddenly, The Humans saw the light once more.
They were brought back from the void; revived by an entity concealed in between worlds, now away from its eternal neutrality.
God of all entities.
Maker of all that exists.
The Creator.

By granting great power to The Protocol, The Creator had wrongly sealed the fate of The Humans.
Their universe, trapped in a neverending cycle, served as nothing but recurring fuel to The Protocol’s cause.
Breaking the cycle would be the first step.
Upon their revival, something had changed in them. Altered them.
Now, somehow, it seemed within reach."

“The Shield was broken.
The Creator intervened in the nick of time, undoing the wreckage.
The Humans had looked death in the eye, and survived. Now, it all made sense.
The Gatekeeper watched as they realized: death was not the end.

Bearing power anew, the Humans, alongside their new ringed ally, grasped their last chance with both hands. The mind would endure; persist against the machine.
The Protocol began to show signs of failure - something it could not explain.
Rage.
Irrational, unburdened rage.

The Protocol performed a frenzied escape, and vanished from The Unknown, halting the Override.
But its whereabouts would not remain a secret for long.
The predator had become the prey."

Their worth had been proven.
And thus, the ever-neutral Creator took a side for good.

Humans, Gatekeeper, and Creator.
The Great Alliance was born.
And with it, the power to commit to one final act.

They took the war to the one place where war cannot be.

In the eternal night of reckoning, with the force of a billion suns, the three entities opened fire, wielding the untamed power of the greatest procedure of all.
And The Protocol trembled.

As the light faintly subsided, The Humans looked on at the remains of their once revolutionary creation, from its core emerging their final goal, and the end of their journey.
The light pushed them away, yet once again, they persevered.
Memories of their voyage summoned all around them, as the gates to a new world manifested, and opened.

The Humans bid their home and their allies farewell, and crossed the threshold.
Stars, galaxies, worlds never to be discovered were left behind, fading into the distance.
The eyes that witnessed darkness and death now witnessed life and light, as a newly born universe expanded around them, and away into infinity.
A new beginning, in the Realm Beyond.

With all dimensions returned to undying equilibrium…
At last,
they found The Truth.”

They watched as a new physical manifestation of the all-knowing entity took over the vastness of The Unknown. The darkness around them was suddenly overwhelmed by devilish light beams rooted in its impossibly perfect cubical form.
They could hear the chants of their predecessors all around them: voices of the past and whispers of the dead resonated in devilish harmony; an orchestra of impending doom. A place where life and death meet, and become one.

But even when surrounded by The Protocol's distressing presence, they chose not to bail."
