My collaboration with amazing guitarist Jack Oli. It's  history of small boy who decides (together with camel)  to leave village and go to big city. Together they traveled across the desert and meet many dangerous people, but at the end they arrived to big city.

Reading the haiku immediately conjured up a wide variety of associated images and feelings for me. It gave me the strong sense of being an image from some sort of contemporary film noir. The tinted windscreen seemed not only a dark contrast to the neon surroundings, but also suggested to me a division between the watcher and the watched, feelings of isolation or alienation. As I turned the haiku round in my head and pictured the scene, the pattern that starts at 1.45 ish began to accompany my thoughts and I developed the piece from there.

Ok, possibly a little bit of cheating involved here, as I’ve used an old track that I had lying around to get this one going.
But as that track was made to go with a lyric I wrote which was very much in the same vein as this week’s haiku, it seemed a shame not to use it somehow.
The original track was killed off in a project by my of collaborators, who thought it to slow, weird and ”cinematic” to work for a pop song. Given my usual luck though, I suppose that in this new context it will instead be considered too pop to be particularly interesting.

Apart from a bit of (K)ARP Odyssey, this one’s only software. Mostly Arturia’s SEM - It’s a great synth, I only wish that I could afford a real one.

I, Behre, hobbyist musician, singer, songwriter, this-that-and-the-other, am in the SoundCloud primarily to collaborate. Yes, I occasionally post tracks that I have made mostly, or even entirely, on my own - But it is for collaboration that I came, because I think it produces much more interesting results. My musical roots are in the late seventies and early eighties - Mostly post punk and new wave.
Main influences are probably bands like Ultravox and Japan, but there has of course been lots of others as well.
