"Recently, my parents moved from Amsterdam to a quiet village away from the city and therefore also away from where I grew up. Before, my childhood always felt close and tangible, just visiting my parents, walking through the old neighbourhood and it's like you've never left. 

It sometimes feels crazy that that time will never come back but through music I often bring this feeling back a little. So this has become the theme of my mix, a kind of ode to that time, with music I got to know through my parents. All this in a 'modern' jacket to suit me as Yb3L"

The Frenchman has been active in the scene for more than 7 years, co-running the cassette-focused label Maturre in Berlin as well as releasing full EPs on Brokntoys, Lost Dogs Entertainment, and dozen of singles and remixes on other platforms. With a keen ear for melody, Poperttelli’s versatile vision can seamlessly bring together anything from grubby electro or industrial EBM to hypnotic or even funky drifts. Poperttelli’ DT podcast 198 is full of well-executed changes of style and tone as well as evocative soundscapes, shaping up a great listening experience in the midst of the current winter gloominess. David works for the great recordshop Sound Metaphors and has his residency at Refuge Worldwide radio.
Transmigration released a lot of amazing records the last few years. The Ebi, Hybryds and Projective Vision stuff has been rotating frequently here. This mix is a great representation of that sound.

Meet Nikita Akimov aka Sinusoidal — a former resident of TESTFM radio, Yzeech, Blatant — who is next on our list of aspiring Eastern European artists we genuinely admire.

Sinusoidal has a flair for creating slow and moody tunes with a pinch of psychedelia, yet he manages to elevate the intensity to such a level that the end result is nothing short of a sophisticated banger. Apart from producing dancefloor heaters, Nikita is also busy crafting sound design for video games.

We discovered Sinusoidal via his first release on @pinkmanrecords back in 2020. Ever since we heard “Inner Implication”, it has remained a constant in our USBs. The same can be said about his latest album “Moral Decay” which came out earlier this year, again on Pinkman (great job, Patrick).

Kraków-based Olivia is an Unsound resident DJ, always taking on new challenges. The local electro, Detroit and italo connoisseur has had a great 2018, with her debut EP Skawa finally being released, and more international dates appearing in her calendar. Elena Colombi is one of the fastest rising DJs of recent months, known for her eclectic mixes and a fascinating NTS show. The Italian-born artist is based in London, where she came up as a promoter. An open-minded DJ who doesn’t specialize in one particular genre, her dynamic sets are a frantic mix of pulsing techno, freaky disco and proto-house. @elenacolombi and @olivia-ungaro played a b2b set at Unsound 2018.
