This week's haiku is by Lorin Ford: 
"Fading light - / his voice in the crowd / of shadows"

I interpreted this from the perspective of light- I wanted it to sound as though the track is getting darker and darker as it moves on. I also wanted an 'overcrowding' sense. To achieve this, I set up non-repeating sequence in the modular, plus a couple of drones, and fed them into a long and heavily fed-back echo and a massive 20 second reverb. The echo was also fed into the reverb for even more blurring. The dry sounds were omitted from the mix. I played around with these sounds live, manually adjusting pitches and filters. I also had a simple bassline playing on the BassStation2, which I gradually brought in. As I did so, I adjusted the EQ of the reverb, cutting out the higher frequencies. This gave the 'darkening' I was after, as well as an uneasy foreboding.  It also made me think of the haiku in less simple terms - originally I read it as comparing the gradual disappearance of a single voice into the crowd to the way light fades into the shadows - but there may be a deeper interpretation, that of losing the memory of a lost loved one to the crowd of new, living memories.
