I recorded all of The Strokes' album 'Is this It' in one take. Not perfect obviously, and I left a bunch of mistakes in, but that's fine. I think it definitely turned out better than dookie though. 

Drums were tracked and mixed mono the same way I did one the song 'Is This It' a few weeks ago (kick, snare top, snare bottom, one overhead, and a room mic). Bass just straight in with a DI and then through a waves plugin amp. 

Guitars were done through a DI with waves plugin amps as well, but also tracked through Ian's crate, mic'd with a 57. (Thanks to Ian for also being my tab page turner while recording guitars)

The vocal track was done with my shitty Sony F96 and went through different waves plugin amps for different songs.

The entire album was mixed on board. Only kick, snare, and vocal tracks used minimal compression, and all tracks used on board EQ.

I’ve decided to remaster some albums and tracks that have already been released.  Just felt I could give them a different kinda sound...

I import the audio files into the daw and then usually load one or more processors of some kind (vinyl, compressor, desk emulations etc) on the stereo master buss. This is configured to colour, shape the sound. My versions are sometimes lower in vol level than the originals. Some releases are hot to signal, but I'm looking for an inherent sound.

Sometimes I apply some chamber and or hall reverb.
