Because of the current global situation, it's been awhile since Space Ghost and friends have been able to host their monthly dance party Open Soul. While everyone is stuck at home, the Open Soul crew have decided to pick up where their mix series had left off 2 years ago, starting with Vol. 3 by Space Ghost.

This mix holds a few classic selections from the dance night, as well as some more recent finds. Expect an obscure mix of Boogie and Disco mostly from the 80s. These songs are for sweaty nights on a packed dance floor at Starline Social Club. We hope to be back doing what we love one day soon!

Open Soul Dance Floor Classics Vol. 3 (Mixed By Space Ghost)

Originally recorded to cassette, these five acidic tracks from Spanish-born producer and record store owner Dip Shim are a paean to his neighbourhood in Malmö, Sweden.

The breadth of styles across the EP is impressive, taking in uplifting techno, mid-tempo electro, banging acid, and ambient, all created with classic analogue machines, suffused throughout with that warm tape sound and sweet sweet 303.

"Things are moving fast; I could cry but I gotta keep up. I know there is a lot of love out there, though it often feels out of reach.. or already snatched off the shelf. So much damn loss, it’s hard to even make sense of what is left. The music, for one.. Andrey started to play the first dj set with vinyl records in the club in 2005, before that his only wrote music at home. In mid-2008, Andrey and his friend Dmitry Kazantsev launched the digital label Biotronic
Records, where were released wonderful albums by such artists as Lazzich, Frunk29, Modul, etc. By 2010, Andrey made a studio from digital and analog synthesizers, and in 2012 he launched his own vinyl-only label Quadrat Musik.
