Within Without, the expansive string laden centre of Scrimshire's 2021 album Nothing Feels Like Everything, receives a beautiful rework from long-time friend and collaborator Emanative. 

Scrimshire and Emanative appeared in the London Jazz scene around the same time in 2008 and in fact in 2010 Scrimshire remixed song Illusions, from Nick Woodmansey's debut record. Now the prolific producer and writer returns the favour with a meditative and uplifting take.

The bonds on this rework are many and deep as both artists have worked extensively with Jessica Lauren over the years. In this remix, Nick brings more of his own collaborators along for the ride, with additional saxophone and vocals lifting this peaceful "optimistical" version.

Scrimshire - Within Without (Emanative's Magical Optimistical Mix)

Beginning with a popping drum break, "Dreams" is a dance-ready combo of modern funk and psychedelic vibes. Lots of ear candy here, including the deep synth bass, energetic percussion, and even some flute! Featuring guitar accompaniment and an explosive solo from Jackie Venson, this is a Texas record thru and thru.

If you haven't heard, here in St. Louis a brother of ours named Mike Brown was killed after being shot multiple times unarmed, by a police officer. Since then I've been seeing nothing but positive camaraderie from the people here, and all over the world in order to get Mike Brown justice!!! I wrote this poem in order to convey my thoughts and discuss the things that I've observed thus far.
