The selections in this mix include original classics from the 90s and beyond alongside thoughtful reworks and new music from artists that I feel continue to vanguard the house music ethos of unity, respect, and freedom of expression, through the lens of my own personal experiences in the New York queer club scene. I recorded this mix in one continuous take with lots of extended blends that move through the vocal, deep, acid, soulful and electro subgenres. I also wanted this mix to feel like an unapologetically queer dance floor experience because both the history of the genre and my own relationship to dance music are inextricably intertwined with the LGBTQ community and with the idea of the club as a refuge. *House is a sanctuary!*»

Advice for the DJs, producers and artists of our community: You can look at DJing and making music as a potential 'career' which will fall more into the the hands and ideas others have for you or you can think of it more as a 'choose your own adventure' where you choose how you want to create, participate, and interact. I vote for the choose your own adventure path. Make your own parties, podcasts, and create new space and platforms for others and yourself. You don't have to fit into the mold that currently exists to have an amazing musical adventure.

It isn’t often that we turnover the club to a single DJ for a night, but when the opportunity to host Turtle Bugg for an all-nighter came up, we did not think twice. With a penchant for all things funky, he took us on a world tour over the course of 7 hours (which this mix is a snippet of) touching on jazz, house, electro and more.
