The Ash Of Hope On The Ruins Of Love

This song is a true story, of a college friend of my wife (who died of cancer almost 9 years ago).  She called to tell me she was going through some things and found a gift my wife had given her 40 years earlier, and she just wanted me to know she was thinking of my wife.  I started writing the lyrics in my head before we had hung up the phone.   My cousin Dan was touched by it too, and had an idea for the music.  It has taken us almost a year to get it recorded, but finally here it is.   We recorded it in my camper at a music festival this past week, and were able to enlist some great players.   On bass is Ash, on violin Emma, and on lead guitar is Jack.   Many thanks to them all for making this special song even more so.

This true story comes from a friend whose niece was begging for lemonade.  The mother finally caved in and got her the lemonade.  Then the little girl said, "Will you hold me while I'm drinking?"  Well, that had to be a song.  So here it is, complete with fiddles and twangy guitar.
