Based in the French city of Lyon, The Reactivitz has been at the forefront of the techno scene in his home country. Playing DJ sets at many of the leading clubs and festivals in France, he has also earned international acclaim for his top-selling productions on labels such as Tronic, Set About, Codex, 1605, Respekt, Octopus and Intec.

Known for his high energy blend of thundering percussion and enthralling melodies he has a dark and charismatic style that has enraptured dance floors across the globe. Supporters of his music range from Carl Cox to Adam Beyer, and this album has allowed him to tell a story that stretches beyond the confines of a few tracks on an EP.

Building with a steady momentum the LP's opening track "The Past Is Gone" is an intro full of tension that creates suspense from slowly introducing a grinding bass and held chords. Track two "Nothing In My Mind" gets the energy flowing with poignant piano chords and a rolling percussive groove, overlaid with a soulful vocal sample that works as a metaphor for The Reactivitz love of techno.

Switching between styles, the album hits its first interlude with the breakbeat percussion and ethereal chords of "Oracle" before "Anywhere On Earth" takes us back to the realms of techno with its frantic melody synth and ominous bassline.

The album they stays on a steady trajectory as it toys with the listeners emotions by switching between dark and light with tracks like "Delirium" bringing moments of sweet euphoria, while others such as "Comet" submerge us into darkness.

Expertly programmed and put together with precision, this album is a masterpiece of modern techno production, and winds down with the ambient atmosphere and heartfelt piano chords of the closing cut "Full of Hope".

For Clint's second solo effort on Second State he brings us two big room jams. With the Throwing Stones EP he takes the same approach as he did with the previous Warpaint EP by going for two different vibes on either side of the record. 
On the A side we have 'Throwing Stones'; a peak time club tune perfect for dark spaces and strobe lights. With giant rolling sub bass, a heavy kick, crisp hi hats and crunchy hand claps the groove slowly grows into a big break with atmospheric chimes and vocal snippets. Soon you are lost in an ethereal break, but suddenly snapped back into reality as the bass changes and a single looping synth takes center stage creating a driving yet euphoric peak time floor filler. 
With the flip side, Clint goes for a warmer, uplifting tone with 'Come Undone'. Starting with finger snaps and a growing arpeggio, the vibe slowly builds as big toms and dreamy atmospherics introduce a massive sub bass line. As a shaker creeps up and another synth blends with the original arpeggio the beat finally drops. A solid four to the floor groove ensues and culminates into a wash of delayed chimes as the breakdown introduces the lead; an unforgettable brass line that is sure to have all the hands in the air at a sunny open air or a morning at the club.

Berlin-based Irish artist Hybrasil returns to Rekids with four murky techno cuts in ‘We Don’t Flip’.

Having made numerous appearances on Rekids including ‘Embers’, his debut album released last year, Hybrasil has become a core artist on Matt Edwards’s label when not releasing on his very own eponymous imprint. Reflecting on an amazingly creative 2019, at the start of this year Hybrasil set a new creative path for his future live shows, writing new music that received regular support from Radio Slave, which is what ultimately shaped this new four-track release.

‘We Don’t Flip’ opens the package with an immediate shadowy aesthetic before rattling kicks, off-beat hats and snappy snares lay down the groove as distorted vocal murmurs join delayed synths. ‘Hour Glass’ is next with its syncopated rhythm and quivering pads before ‘Ikigai’ takes things into wonkier territories courtesy of subtle melodies, metallic atmospherics and dubby chords. Tying everything together, ‘System H’ takes things up a notch, adding extra oomph to the package using powerful drums, rippling bass and deep stabs.

Hybrasil - We Don't Flip

Alex Mine isn't new to anyone who has been following SCI+TEC. Since his debut release in 2013, the Italian mastermind has become a regular on the label, including a feature on the 10 Years Of SCI+TEC compilation. Three tracks out August 14, mixed with natural energy and rhythm drum patterns, as is usual with Alex Mine.

Layton Giordani crafts his most accomplished work to date with ‘New Generation’, his second album on Drumcode. 
 
Since 2017’s critically acclaimed debut album ‘Where It Begins’, the New Yorker has entrenched himself as one of the label’s most vital artists and leader of techno’s new school brigade. At just 27, he’s collaborated with Adam Beyer and Green Velvet on multiple occasions, linked with the legendary Danny Tenaglia for the now-classic ‘Live Again’ and played everywhere from Awakenings, Melt! Festival and Warehouse Project. He’s also lived the Transatlantic life more than most, splitting his time between the Big Apple and Amsterdam, absorbing influences from across the electronic spectrum.  
 
It’s these experiences that inform ‘New Generation’, a masterclass of techno futurism and glistening example of Giordani’s ever-developing talents as a producer. Opening with the shimmering soundscapes of ‘Shinjuku’, a beatless two-and-a-half-minute mood setter, the album swings between timeless multi-faceted dancefloor weapons, and more lilting, ambient techno cuts rips for the golden hour. 
 
Already a favourite of the Drumcode faithful, the album’s title track hits with a swarm of synapsesearing synths that saw it go down a treat at Awakenings Festival, Tomorrowland and Gashouder in the second half of 2019. ‘System Majority’ balances atmosphere and propulsive rhythms on a knife’s edge and featured in Beyer’s DCR 515 radio show. Giordani reunites with the legendary Green Velvet for ‘Life Lesson’, a pulsating roller, which notably features the young New Yorker’s hypnotic vocals on loop. Teaming with friend and fellow East Coaster Avision, ‘Power’ is punchy techno at its finest, driven by energetic stabs and a stirring vocal from Chicago journeyman Cevin Fisher. After playing b2b a string of times, Layton links with good friend Bart Skils for a maiden collaborative track. Driven by a strong melodic lead, ‘Midnight Magic’ typified the moment when the duo played it at Drumcode’s Awakenings event during ADE last year. ‘Feel A Vibe’ is an album highlight centered around plump bass, reverb-heavy sonics, distorted bleeps and a spoken word vocal, which begs for a peak-time rinse. 
 
Elsewhere Giordani demonstrates his breadth with cuts such as ‘Nirvana X’, a lush breakbeat-laden cut; the laser-kissed ‘Translation Lost’, where his musicality is in full view and the progressive-tinged 
‘Memory Fragment’, which reinforces the expansive Drumcode sound palette. The beautiful ‘Human Error’ closes out the work, as muffled horns, delicate keys and sparse bed of percussion unify for a momentous finale.
