My special guest this week is Greg Middleton, who first began DJing and collecting vinyl in the early 90s. He introduced himself on the DJ scene by spinning various forms of house music at events in Birmingham and Coventry before moving onto playing at famous venues in London such as SW1 and The Cross.

Throughout the 00s, he regularly went to, and occasionally played at, Brixton-based club night Gettin’ Hectic, where the music policy was far more eclectic and varied, but still absolutely rocking. Inspired by these influential club nights, and the emerging Edits scene in the latter part of that decade, Greg set about developing his own eclectic style, all underpinned by two key ingredients: groove and soul.
Greg has since held a three-year residency at one of London’s long-established venues, the Big Chill Bar, gaining a reputation for his epic, genre-hopping sets spanning Funk, Soul, Hip-Hop, Disco, Nu-Disco, House and beyond.

In 2018, he started his own club night in South-West London - Borderline - bringing his eclectic, funky vibe to the local area and culminating in several sold out events. When COVID-19 hit in March 2020, Greg launched the virtual Borderline Lockdown Sessions, doing live streams on Saturday nights throughout the pandemic, with lively chatrooms and a growing following.

Priding himself on spinning different sets each time out, his meticulous track selection and coherent blend of different genres will be sure to keep your attention from start to finish.

The Black Light Disco Show depth charges into the swimming pool on myhouseradio.fm wearing its super tight speedos and ready for another go on the water flume.

Hosting the show live from the sun terrace at BLD Towers we have Esteban aka Ste Hendry, who is slapping on the Factor Funk ahead of treating us to another eclectic set packed full of sunshine grooves and tropical breezes. 

Joining us tonight we have a very, very special guest to take on the mantle for the second hour - the one and only Fran Deeper! Hailing from the sunshine island of Mallorca, Spain, Fran is the Head Honcho of the huge Spa In Disco and Boîte Records labels. 

Fran Deeper is without a doubt one of the most influential dudes on the Disco / Nu-Disco scene. His extensive music experience and unique style has seen him play in some of the most prestigious DJ booths all over the world from Madrid to Mexico City, Ibiza to Tulum, London, San Francisco, Marseille, Jakarta, Barcelona, Milan, Stockholm or Bali, to name a few. This guy is a DJ who feels most at home playing to the crowds on the dance floor, and we cannot wait for you to hear what he has in store for his BLD debut. BLD 19th April 2021 with Esteban & Special Guest - Fran Deeper

This weeks Spin City Show that aired on myhouseradio.fm on the 25th April 2021 saw me on hosting duties for the first hour of the show, before handing over to the incredible Derrick McKenzie. 

Some of you will may recognise him as being the drummer for Jamiroquai, some as an amazing dj. Either way, Derrick absolutely shredded the second hour of the show, as you'd expect. The Black Light Disco Show swaggered back on to myhouseradio.fm with another fun packed show full of musical chicanery for your listening pleasure. 

Hosting the show from the sauna in BLD Towers is Goz, who was gradually turning the temperature up and getting the steam going with a set full of funky hot stones and towel-whippings. 

On guest mix duties we’re excited and honoured to have the fantastic and super-talented Greg Middleton join us for his BLD debut. 

Greg first began collecting vinyl and learning the DJ ropes in the early 90s, introducing himself to the DJ scene by spinning various forms of house music at bars and clubs in Coventry and Birmingham before moving onto playing at famous London venues such as SW1 and The Cross.

Throughout the Noughties he was a regular on both sides of the booth at Brixton-based club night Gettin’ Hectic, which, blessed with an eclectic and varied music music policy had a fair few barnstorming nights. Inspired by these influential club nights, and the emerging Edits scene, Greg set about developing his own eclectic style which is built on two key ingredients - groove and soul.

On the custard mixtape series this week we have Pete Ellison. 
Having been DJing since 1998 and starting out originally playing vinyl, his music collection from those 20 years is vast. It covers a variety of genres from house to nu-disco, funk to techno and everything in between. 
Long DJ sets are a speciality, with his longest ever DJ performance being an epic 8-hour set.
He runs a DJ collective called Serendipity who throw underground events and boat parties in London, playing an eclectic vibe of disco, deep house and techno. 
For the past year he has been broadcasting a weekly show called the “Feel Good Friday Radio Show”, featuring stellar guests from the world of funk and nu-disco.
More recently Pete has started producing his own tracks, with his first EP coming out on Super Spicy Records later this year!

It was 2009 when he started his first producing steps messing around with disco loops. Co-owner of Athens Voice Radio 102.5, he puts his own touch of music, every Saturday at midnight for 13 straight years. Our 13th show takes on a slightly different format this week following the tragic news that Michel Baumann passed away last month. The producer and DJ was often found under his Soulphiction and Jackmate alias and produced plenty of unique and wonderfully crafted deep & soulful house. He will be sorely missed and the opening section of the show is dedicated to his work. 

The Bandcamp Beat kicks off our section of the show with a release from Jacques Renault and his Schatzi Edits series. Our recommended releases sees plenty of variety this week with Nu and Future disco for starters and a main course of disco house to finish! 

The Brooklyn label Razor-N-Tape are highlighted in the label focus, most notably the white label edits portion of their catalogue. Keep your eye out for the Label Focus expansion into a full length mix series coming next week. 

Featured exclusively on wax we see a brand new label launched last month in Norwich. I Travel To You Records have recently released a 4 track edits package and we feature the super slick sundrenched Latin jam Por Amor from the label. 

And to top all this off we welcome along a guest mixer who is one of the biggest names in music right now. Young Pulse is a producer, mix engineer & record label boss from Paris. After co-founding Mochi Records in 2019 he now heads up The Funky French League with other producers, artists and musicians. Their debut release 'Love Will Bring It' EP showcases their quality and has now received a full remix package from other world renowned producers. His knowledge around the disco & boogie scene is unrivalled and his guest mix showcases both new & old records including some of his labels own productions. We know you are going to love this one!

In the early 1990s he was introduced to the art of mixing vinyl records and from that point forwards, Goz immersed himself in the art of beat matching and building sets - crafting his unique style throughout the 1990s where he would play local parties and get-togethers and, of course  - the all-important pre and post-night out shenanigans.  

After taking a break from DJ’ing in the early 2000s, Goz picked up the reins once again in 2014 and got back to doing what he loves most. Goz has always had an exceptionally diverse taste in music, although he naturally gravitated towards disco, soul, funk and hip-hop genres. 

Goz’s passion for music shines through in his sets, which are carefully curated and crafted to take you on a journey that always leaves you craving more. As one of the most renowned specialists in slow-mo and laid back grooves, when Goz decides to drop down the gears he creates a ‘soundscape’ experience few DJs on the scene can achieve. Similarly, when the disco juices are flowing, and the BPM is cranked up it’s a roller coaster ride and swirling haze of funky basslines, heavenly string arrangements, Afro beats and soulful smokiness. 

As host / show runner of the hugely successful Spin City which airs on New York’s number one House Music Station, www.myhouseradio.fm for a number of years now, Goz has built an extensive and strong follower base who regularly tune in to the two hour show which airs every Sunday at 7pm GMT (2pm NYC). The format of Spin City is a certified winner - with Goz normally presenting the first hour of the show followed by a special guest mix each week. On occasion, Goz will take the whole two hours to treat listeners to prime selections of new, old and classic tracks.  Some of the biggest names on the disco and nu-disco scene have appeared on the show, which has also secured talents such as John Le Visiteur, IMFROMULL, DJ Wahine and Queen & Disco for bi-monthly and quarterly residency spots. Goz also has a keen eye for up-and-coming DJs and producers - spotting undiscovered talent early and giving them a platform to showcase their skills.

During the summer of 2019, Goz teamed up with a group of like-minded DJs and producers to form a new promotion - Black Light Disco. The first Black Light Disco event in June 2019 was an enormous success and has gone on to land its own radio show which also airs on MyHouse Radio FM every Monday from 7pm - 9pm GMT (2pm - 4pm NYC). Since the show started in January 2020, its reputation has grown considerably and BLD now attracts some of the biggest names on the disco and nu-disco scene for guest spots. In May 2020, Black Light Disco formed a partnership with the excellent Samosa Records and Daje Funk Records to present a monthly residency on the MyHouse Radio platform, with label head honchos Les Inferno and De Gama taking over the show for the whole two hours. Airing on the second Monday of each month, The Samosa Funk show is already taking the disco world by storm -the partnership with BLD really taking things to the next level for the promotion. With 30 years’ experience behind the decks - spinning uplifting House, Disco, Edits and more - London-based Greg Middleton is a versatile DJ, from warming things up with laid-back grooves to closing out a night with peak-time floor-fillers. Greg’s sets are fun and nostalgic, yet sophisticated and unpredictable, with rock solid vocals, funky and soulful grooves, layers of organic percussion, and hints of classic house - a nod to his musical roots.

Greg began collecting records and learning the DJ ropes in the early 90s, introducing himself to the club scene spinning House at various nights across the Midlands before moving onto playing at famous London clubs such as SW1 and The Cross.

Over the following decade, Greg broadened his style, heavily influenced the emerging Edits scene championed by the likes of Greg Wilson, Late Nite Tuff Guy and Dr Packer. He then held a three-year residency at the Big Chill Bar (one of London’s long-established venues), where he further honed his skills, reading the crowd and building the tempo while spinning long, genre-hopping sets.

Starting his own regular club night called Borderline in 2018, Greg brought his funky, party vibe to a packed-out, intimate venue in South-West London. When the pandemic hit, Greg took Borderline to the virtual airwaves, doing live streams every Saturday night during the lockdowns, with lively chatrooms and a growing following. The club nights returned with a bang in March 2022, and are going from strength to strength.

As a member of the “Disco Waltons” family, a group of DJs, producers and enthusiasts with a fast-growing reputation, he is currently co-producing the weekly Disco Waltons Sunday Service show on NDC Radio, with guests such as Michael Gray, Richard Earnshaw, Mark Brickman, Jamiroquai's Derrick McKenzie and Greg Wilson.

Greg is also co-host of Pete Ellison's award-winning radio show the Feel Good Friday Show, currently airing weekly on NDC Radio.
