Black Light Disco sashays back on to the myhouseradio.fm airwaves in a  with another ‘shock & awe’ inspired groove explosion to blast your ears into a better place!

Taking their place inside the booth for the first hour are BLD residents and the Batman and Robin of the disco scene - Pookie Knights (Just don’t ask which one is Batman). The lads have cranked it right up for  a stone cold solid hour of delectable ditties to moisten your dabber. 

For the second hour we welcome our very special guests for this evening -  Groove Parliament. .Composed of Lo5ive & Ynigo, Groove Parliament are a DJ & Production Duo that formed & honed their skills as residents at 'Nghtwrk' Wrexham before moving onto be residents for nights such as Transmission Funk, Krakatoa Soundsystem & Kultura Collective. They have 2 releases on Nervous Records & another collaborative release forthcoming on King Street Sounds. This set is unbelievably good - it's a real journey so strap yourselves in!

@martinbrodin’s @mb_disco was a real go to label from 2010 to 2014. During that time it captured the energy of the European electronic house sound with releases from Aeroplane, The Glimmers, Drop Out Orchestra, Giorgio Moroder, Psychemagik, Ray Mang, Chicken Lips and of course Martin himself.

Now Martin is relaunching the label and dusting off his own studio and stepping back onto the scene with the release of two ace remixes of his 2005 track Semitone Shuffle.

The mixtapes just keep on coming and it only seemed fair to  bring in another one of our Disco Day Party #03 acts - Pookie Knights! 

Hailing from Wales, Pookie Knights are a Disco-House duo who are all about uplifting, groovin' vibes and halcyon rhythms. What started 5 years ago as an obsession for crate digging for 80s vinyl gems and blending them into modern floor fillers, has now seen us enjoy several releases on various labels across Europe. Labels such as; Fresh Take, Sundries, Spincat Music, SeeSaw and many more.

On top of all that, they are also a part of Black Light Disco family, where they host a radio show on New York City airwaves every Monday on the prestigious MyHouseRadio.FM.

The boys mix is an hour of groovy disco with a sprinkling of acid and gives an insight into what they'll be packing in their arsenal for the 14th August!

This week's Spin City Show that aired on myhouseradio.fm 1st August 2021 saw the return of our incredible resident Wahine on hosting duties. For her set, she used a live recording from one of her recent gigs in Atlanta, Georgia. As you would expect, this is another knock-out hour of high-class music. 

For the second hour of the show, Wahine passed the baton over to her guest from the south of France, Alex Visciglio AKA VIGI --an incredibly talented DJ/Producer whose first album, "Rhodes Island" (released late last year on NDYD ) made a huge impression on top taste-makers in the scene. From downtempo to deep house to disco, VIGI's productions are equal parts polished and soulful. This mix was oozing quality from start to end from a guy at the top of his game. Martha Wash is one of the greatest singers, ever! While she was rightfully credited for her work with Sylvester and Two Tons o' Fun. Her run of mainstream hits during the early 90s were shrouded in controversy because thinner singers/models lip synced to her vocals (Black Box, C&C Music Factory). Thankfully, that injustice came to light, a lawsuit ensued, from which she received acknowledgement and compensation for her work. I believe stemming from that lawsuit future artists were required to be credited for their work. She released a solo album of work after that which contains so many fantastic songs. 'Carry On' and 'Give It To You' are my favourites from it. I opted to mix the latter. Track is not being monetized.

Hailing from Scotland, Goz has been DJ’ing for over 25 years and in that time has embraced a number of genres from house, hip hop and soul to disco and funk. In the early 1990s he was introduced to the art of mixing vinyl records and from that point forwards, Goz immersed himself in the art of beat matching and building sets - crafting his unique style throughout the 1990s where he would play local parties and get-togethers and, of course  - the all-important pre and post-night out shenanigans.  

After taking a break from DJ’ing in the early 2000s, Goz picked up the reins once again in 2014 and got back to doing what he loves most. Goz has always had an exceptionally diverse taste in music, although he naturally gravitated towards disco, soul, funk and hip-hop genres. 

Goz’s passion for music shines through in his sets, which are carefully curated and crafted to take you on a journey that always leaves you craving more. As one of the most renowned specialists in slow-mo and laid back grooves, when Goz decides to drop down the gears he creates a ‘soundscape’ experience few DJs on the scene can achieve. Similarly, when the disco juices are flowing, and the BPM is cranked up it’s a roller coaster ride and swirling haze of funky basslines, heavenly string arrangements, Afro beats and soulful smokiness. 

As host / show runner of the hugely successful Spin City which airs on New York’s number one House Music Station, www.myhouseradio.fm for a number of years now, Goz has built an extensive and strong follower base who regularly tune in to the two hour show which airs every Sunday at 7pm GMT (2pm NYC). The format of Spin City is a certified winner - with Goz normally presenting the first hour of the show followed by a special guest mix each week. On occasion, Goz will take the whole two hours to treat listeners to prime selections of new, old and classic tracks.  Some of the biggest names on the disco and nu-disco scene have appeared on the show, which has also secured talents such as John Le Visiteur, IMFROMULL, DJ Wahine and Queen & Disco for bi-monthly and quarterly residency spots. Goz also has a keen eye for up-and-coming DJs and producers - spotting undiscovered talent early and giving them a platform to showcase their skills.

During the summer of 2019, Goz teamed up with a group of like-minded DJs and producers to form a new promotion - Black Light Disco. The first Black Light Disco event in June 2019 was an enormous success and has gone on to land its own radio show which also airs on MyHouse Radio FM every Monday from 7pm - 9pm GMT (2pm - 4pm NYC). Since the show started in January 2020, its reputation has grown considerably and BLD now attracts some of the biggest names on the disco and nu-disco scene for guest spots. In May 2020, Black Light Disco formed a partnership with the excellent Samosa Records and Daje Funk Records to present a monthly residency on the MyHouse Radio platform, with label head honchos Les Inferno and De Gama taking over the show for the whole two hours. Airing on the second Monday of each month, The Samosa Funk show is already taking the disco world by storm -the partnership with BLD really taking things to the next level for the promotion. Going forward, Black Light Disco has a number of live events planned, so watch this space for the most up-to-date news on where one of Black Light Disco’s now famous nights will drop next!
