Collectively, Cold Summer are a self proclaimed post hardcore band dynamically challenging perceptions and conventions of what a band playing heavy yet melodic (passionate, but not pretentious) punk/hardcore influenced rock, should sound like.

Following an introspective end to 2011 with a seemingly refined and revitalized collection of songs, the band released their debut EP ‘Transitions’ in Jan 2012 and began playing live shows almost immediately. The first of which was supporting End Of A Year/Self Defense Family (Deathwish records) & Aficionado (No Sleep records) at The Well, Leeds.

Not satisfied with letting the proposed cycle of ‘Transitions’ run it’s course, the band (despite now regularly playing local shows) introspectively but optimisti- cally returned to their practice space to write. These new tracks saw the band fo- cused to profilicaly follow up and expand upon 'Transitions'. The band found their muse with local and enthusiastic engineer/producer, Bob Cooper (Hawk Eyes, Nai Harvest, Ginger Wildheart, Calls Landing) and during April 2012 booked a weeks recording session spread out over two different studios, Chair- works and Propeller based in Castleford, West Yorkshire. The result of this crea- tive and productive session formed the bands new release, the five track
EP, ‘Wake’.

Building on from the raw sound of ‘Transitions’ which highlighting the bands well defined contrast of loud/quiet dynamics, ‘Wake‘ uncovers the band in a more polished and pronounced light, reflecting the bands ‘huge’ live sound, hand in hand with new songs that show progression as well as volume. In preparation for the release the band have played several shows, a new launch night for The Well, Leeds (supporting Make Your Mark, Calls Landing and Nai Harvest) and a show at the Leopard, Doncaster alongside NOFX’s UK/Euro Tour support Margate on one of their headlining dates. This lead to a sold out show at the Cockpit, Leeds with Lemuria (Bridge 9 records) on their UK tour in support of their latest album 'Pebble'.

The guys closed out 2012 with a few more shows supporting Housefires & The Cut Ups respectively in November and some more recording during October was completed again with Bob Cooper to expand upon 'Wake'. The first track re- leased to the bands bandcamp & also puregrainaudio.com was 'The Fallen' which to date has received over 350 free downloads. To end the year the band support local metalcore band Escape Is Not An Option' to a near sold out room 2 at the cockpit, leeds.

Throughout 2013 the band as well as releasing their debut 'self titled' album have supported, Funeral For a Friend (Distiller Records) and Polar (Wolf At Your Door), Lemuria (Bridge 9 Records), Blitz Kids (Red Bull Records), Scholars (Banquet Records), & Cytota.

The band are hitting the road in February 2014 with a week long tour in support of the self titled album.

St Cyrus is the project of singer songwriter Chris Charlton, from Wakefield, West Yorks. Originally from Montrose, Scotland Charlton's first ever band was actually with Mogwai's Stuart Braithwaite, aged 11 😄. Chris played in seminal UK hardcore pop outfit Chopper (Crackle records, Fierce Panda) and then influential indie-emo band Pylon, championed by fellow Wakey pals The Cribs. 

St Cyrus is melodic, catchy alt pop, crafted since 2020 in the West Yorkshire rhubarb triangle fields, think The Decemberists meets Death Cab for Cutie but from Yorkshire.

With previous plays on BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio, collaborations with The Research's Georgina Jakubiak and Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly, St Cyrus is officially charged with creating music that you can't get out of your head. Latest single 'All The Eyes Are On Us' is released 28th July 2023.
