Open Into Flame
 is a meditation, a prayer and a dance for personal and collective transformation. For the past month, I have been immersed in smoke from fires burning in the mountains to surrounding my home and from the hundreds of others burning nearby here in the Pacific Northwest of Canada/USA. The burning of entire towns, homes and livelihoods has moved me into tears and into deep reflection. What is our Earth Mother asking of us in this time? This music was chosen to tell the story of my own journey into this question. It's an invitation to open into your own flame and to support releasing, transforming and welcoming new beginnings. As Bība shares so eloquently in this mix, “It’s time for a change of skin. This shedding is underway. Snake shows us that this shedding is by fire. The skin burning away is a skin full of injustices, anger and violence. [The fire] is symbolic of moving away from the old ways and making way for the new. In these flames, our anger can now be seen, our shadow revealed by the glowing light. And in this fire now, it’s time to heal. At this time of great shedding, an energy channel is open- a line of light. This line of light is our lineage. Our path to awakening. This energy is open to all beings on earth to come into alignment with the unfolding mystery of our individual and collective evolution.”

Honoured to share this set in the Winter Solstice Day.

The Winter Solstice is the darkest day of the year, so our ancestors have been celebrating this sacred time for millennials. The rise and fall of the sun echoes the rise and fall of each of our lives, our years, and our days. This knowledge isn’t just a calendar for the seasons, but a connection between our inner self and the outer cosmos. We are each born in the Spring of our youth, reach the peak of our power in the Summer of our adulthood, wane in the Autumn of our old age, and ultimately surrender in the Winter of our death. But we also move through these seasons in a single day as we wake, rise, retire, and rest.

In this set I wanted to reflect the internal journey that we make in the healing and purification cycles. Very deep and intense moments lead us to a rebirth full of calm and love.

This musical soul-tapestry – filled with many waves, breaking me open deeper to Life, and all her mysterious cycles--has taken me over 1 years to weave: many many cycles of letting go, sheddings, dying and being re-born with mud and grace, in order to meet this precious Life as it is, with all of it's spectrums. 

These times we are currently living in are filled with countless opportunities to break down and/or to break open:  it is my deep prayer for humanity that we continue to find beauty, grace and empowerment in all that is breaking/crumbling/transforming, inside and outside of us...this musical tapestry is a prayer for the Human Spirit, and for the seeds we plant for the generations to come.

It was again - like last year - a super magical gathering and the energy on the last day was super high and we all felt the deep connection to our mother earth, fahter sky and each other dancing, singing and praying around the sacred fire. Big Waves of Gratitude to the whole Heart Culture Crew for making such an EPIC Soul-Family-Meeting possible and thanks to everyone who was there that night to celebrate and dance with us <3

ALUNA Live @ Heart Culture Festival 2019 (Closing Set)

Considered one of the pioneers of electronic organic music, Intiche‘s journey, he claims, started even before travelling from Argentina to Berlin for the first time in 1999. Indeed, the celebrated DJ and producer proclaims his “passion for music began some past lives before this one”. Nevertheless, it’s in the last twenty years of this life that the downtempo DJ has made considerable impact.

From an acoustic starting point, Intiche’s compositions find inspiration in Pachamama (“Mother Earth”) and earthy frequencies. Using traditional instruments, native to Latin America, Intiche’s trance-like productions deftly traverse history, weaving links between ancient indigenous cultures and modern club culture. Intiche’s music intends to “touch the soul” as much as make people dance and, accordingly, you’re just as likely to find him playing at Berlin’s Berghain or Beate Uwe as at ceremonies, yoga festivals, healing gatherings and “Ecstatic Dances” around the world. We’re grateful to have Intiche drop in for a Con Alma Mixtape.

“A Mixtape in an Ecstatic Dance. Two Waves flow for Sound & Colours, on a mixtape made between full moon and new moon in early November ’20. These are mostly original songs – some of them unreleased – that have the intention of making you feel good and keeping the motivation high. Uplifting melodies and rhythmic percussions to dance pump up the frequencies and the booties.
