Description: This set from Acrartep was recorded live for the second edition of 'Destroy/Rebuild', an experimental live electronic event designed around the concept of destroying audio and rebuilding the artefacts of its destruction into music

This sound collage was created as part of an Artist in Residence project at BasementArtsProject in Leeds, UK.
This is a participatory project. Participants around the world were invited to make a 'sound drawing' with their eyes closed, in a place of their choice, using the act of making marks on paper to tune in to the sounds they could hear around them. They also made an audio recording whilst drawing and some first recorded and then drew whilst listening back to the recording.

I used the drawings to create a digital collage - a kind of 'map'; and this sound collage using the audio clips that were sent to me as samples. Some of the audio clips are unedited, some are modified, and some details have been used to create rhythms and melodies. I created the sound piece by using the map as a score, layering sounds together, which intersected with each other's drawings.

The sound takes you on a journey through the map, as if travelling through an imaginary sonic landscape.

All sounds and drawings featured in this project are those that were submitted by participants. I have not use any additional materials.
The work is in progress and I intend to continue developing this work using the samples to create different 'journeys'.

Lynne is a Japanese artist who explores the outer realms of techno, experimental, and drum 'n'bass. First emerging in 2013 as part of Tokyo's underground scene, Lynne established herself quickly, winning the Samurai Music Mix competition and playing regularly at respected Tokyo institutions. Over time her sound evolved from its DnB roots to include more textural, obscure and experimental layers as she became fascinated with building emotive atmospheres and twisting them to her rhythm. Now an Astral Industries and Unknown Species resident, Lynne resides between Tokyo and London. She is an artist who is most comfortable in the grey space between genres, where her rhythm is a gravitational force pulling dancers in all the right directions.

[Les Chaos Ambiants]

The Pauza association presents Les Chaos Ambiants, a festival dedicated to the encounter between electronic music, the visual arts and the rich heritage of Burgundy-Franche-Comté.

This event is designed on a small scale to make it as comfortable as possible to listen, meet and move around, with a single stage to promote emerging and established artists, a natural setting conducive to the discovery of musical works and artistic installations, and an eco-responsible approach to limit its environmental impact.

The project has several objectives : to promote the European and international artistic scene, to stimulate and strengthen the cultural and creative network across the département and the region ; to help promote and showcase the natural and cultural heritage of Burgundy-Franche-Comté ; to support local produce and the local economy.

A celebration of the most vibrant spring in recent memory. 

A lucid dream-like journey, recorded beside a stream in the beauty of the Calder Valley. Resident of ambient leaning artistic collective 'resonance', adam presents a glimpse of resonance in West Yorkshire for our springtime Bloom Loops sonic journey. 

Beside a quiet and peaceful spring between Todmorden and Hebden Bridge, adam has incorporated field recordings of 'the pond', blending these with a selection of deep listening ambient tracks, and otherworldly field recordings of springtime. The running waters of the valley, the birds, bees, and a bunch of friends.

adam is a key member of the resonance crew - a network of gifted souls who produce journeys between light, sound, and setting with their local community as well as showcasing the gifted artisans and the magic of the valley to events further afield, most recently in London and Manchester.

The next Deep Mind Music comes from one of my dearest friends, and greatest inspirations - hems

hems and I have a special connection, we both love to adventure through musical lands strange and beguiling, evocative and unusual, and have spent many hours together digging through obscure backcatalogs or making our own noises experimenting with hems’ many synthesisers in his studio in London 🧡

hems plays music like no one else I know, he has a magic touch and deep sensitivity for representing all shades of human existence. From the sublime to the transcendent, the unsettling to the hilarious, hems’ sets takes listeners to the beyond and then further still.

I first invited hems to make a mix many years ago, so I am very happy to finally welcome an entry from him. This recording is the first 2.5 hours of an all-night 8 hour set hems played at an intimate private gathering in Mexico City in March of this year.

In this recording hems coaxes us to drift inwards, to enter into an unusual landscape, to open up to all the elements of sound, contrasting pre-Hispanic music with vintage synthesizer tracks and much more.  

Listening to hems’ sets over the years has expanded my mind towards new possibilities, his selections and genius touch for programming evoking many deep epiphanies and insights. This mix is brimming with vitality and life, I hope you enjoy this kaleidoscopic voyage into the mystical 🌿 ~

Alongside DJing, hems produces very deep and intricate experimental electronic music I highly recommend checking out, often utilitising spatial audio systems or even playing gongs live, and he also runs the amazing Titrate records with @o-utlier, as well as his own mix series @hardcore-chillout with @EightFoldWay
