This autumn, Monochrome is offering each month to one or several artists to discover their influences and inspirations through a forty-five minute to two hour recording. These three recordings will focus on Ambient, IDM and Dub-Techno.

Artist biography :

Native from south of France, Axymt. is a truly electronic music lover.
Vinyl collector since 2014, he have found his style in kind of very deep and atmospheric music. With the soul of a digger, he launch Axy Tmt YouTube channel where we can find last nicest music releases or some old forgotten treasures.

In 2018, he launch his collective called Somnium. His several performances at La Vallée Electrique and other locations, brought him to play with great artists such as VBC [Vibrance], 9beats, Ben Buitendijk, Fjader, Nems-b, Keikari, Headless Horseman...

For the second instalment into our podcast series, we turn the clock hands back to last month and take passage to the far north, across the borderlands and into the heart of Scotland's cultural capital. This live recording from our dear friend Fernie took place between 3 and 4am, when the Glaswegian night Orbits (co-run by Fernie alongside Deepbass and Repart) took over local creative hub Surge for a stripped back night of no nonsense deep and hypnotic techno.

The recording is leaking with energy, offering a delightful insight into what was most surely a memorable affair. Fernie has been a true figure of support and guidance to us starting out with our venture, so this podcast is a real treat to broadcast. Arkajo is back on his own label with two originals and two remixes by kindred spirits, Polygonia and Konduku. Starting with the warm Entwine, stepped-out beats laced with swirly stabs. Polygonia’s finishes off the A-side with an organic and atmospheric rework; saturated in deep, trippy, rattling tonally percussive flows. Arkajo’s Signature leads the B-side: broken drum patterns with whispers from the realm between where Sweden and the UK meet. Konduku settles the score with his dark and eerie 4×4 techno take. A diverse record to keep in the bag for both hazy basements and the upcoming summer season.

COLA REN, a pioneering Chinese female producer and DJ, breaks new ground with her first EP on our label, ‚Forest Drone‘. Her unique approach to music opens a new world of refined timbres, rhythms and melodies which feature characteristics of genres like Downtempo, Ambient, Breakbeat and Techno.

The EP begins with ‚Firefly,‘ where listeners find themselves enveloped by an aura as enchanting as a night lit by fireflies. The title track ‚Forest Drone‘ introduces warm, tribal rhythms intertwined with a captivating drone, while the sequenced synth pattern of ‚Lost in Bamboos‘ offers a rhythmic escape into a lush, imagined bamboo grove. The EP closes with ‚Dusk Piper,‘ a track that combines breakbeat rhythms with mysterious synth melodies to leave a lasting impression.

About Cola Ren:

COLA REN is a music producer and DJ based in Guangzhou, China.

Her sound is inspired by her observations of humanity, introspection, and experiences traveling the globe as a photographer. She excels in using sound to depict organic visuals and emotional colors, guiding listeners through rhythms originating from different roots of the world.

Her debut self-released EP ‚Hailu‘ is a fulsome ambient, Balearic, and downtempo brew with a gorgeous sense of melody and spirituality that offers a soothing escape. It has received early support from Lena Willikens, Vladimir Ivkovic, Salamanda, K-LONE, Al Wootton, Joe Delon, Mixmag Asia, and more. She has also made appearances on international radio stations such as NTS, HÖR, Kiosk Radio, and Rinse FM.

She is also the co-founder of the local community radio 八平 ‘8square Radio’ and her own label AMWAV, which aims to bring fresh local sounds to audiences around the globe.
