Ian “Widow” is a multi-talented artist born and raised in the New York/New Jersey area of the United States, who has a strong love for nostalgic elements as well as hypnotic tones. Being a music producer, an engineer for live music, a voice actor, and a writer for the world famous Monument Magazine out of Oslo, Norway - Ian’s life is fully encompassed within being a creative to certain degree. Having a background in the American football sport for almost 10 years, his work ethic comes from the intense lifestyle of a high level athlete. 
The demonstration of music Widow has given us is a mix of some of his favorite recordings throughout the years. Being a lover of nostalgia, the tone conveys a comfortable feeling with warm undertones. All in all, you will be transcended to a time in which everything was easier.

Monochrome presents, Automne II : Axymt (Vinyl Set), Somnium.

This autumn, Monochrome is offering each month to one or several artists to discover their influences and inspirations through a forty-five minute to two hour recording. These three recordings will focus on Ambient, IDM and Dub-Techno.

Artist biography :

Native from south of France, Axymt. is a truly electronic music lover.
Vinyl collector since 2014, he have found his style in kind of very deep and atmospheric music. With the soul of a digger, he launch Axy Tmt YouTube channel where we can find last nicest music releases or some old forgotten treasures.

In 2018, he launch his collective called Somnium. His several performances at La Vallée Electrique and other locations, brought him to play with great artists such as VBC [Vibrance], 9beats, Ben Buitendijk, Fjader, Nems-b, Keikari, Headless Horseman...

Seconde Aride (@secondearide, aka Paul Darricarrère) is a Paris-based DJ mixing primarily on vinyl. What you can find in his collection is a medley of sub-heavy, breaksy and deep beats covering a wide range of styles. Interested in contemporary methods of artistic expression in music, Paul leads a research-creation project at the Ecole Universitaire de Recherche ArTeC on the socio-politics of sampling at the age of sample packs commodification. 

Samples all have an identity, be they recorded from the depth of the sea or generated by the chip of a synth. Producers of today create ecosystems within which those various sonic potentialities meet and clash. Seconde Aride approaches djing as a way of aggregating these ecosystems in evolutive ways, thus creating new sonic worlds.

Many marine organisms rely on their ability to hear for their survival. Sound is a highly efficient means of communication underwater and is the primary way that many marine species gather and understand information about their environment. Many aquatic animals use sound to find prey, locate mates and offspring, avoid predators, guide their navigation and locate habitat, as well as to listen and communicate with each other.

Still, over the past decade, due to human activities such as fishing, shipping, offshore exploitations and infrastructure development, anthropogenic noise pollution has constantly increased, leading to change ocean noise levels in many coastal and offshore habitats.

Often low-estimated compared to terrestrial sound pollution, a study published in the Science magazine (“Soundscape of the Anthropocene Ocean”)is highlighting the harmful effects of underwater noise pollution. Human activity has not only made the ocean noisier, but it is also drowning out the sounds of its marine animals, disrupting the behavior, physiology, and reproduction of marine organisms so much that it can lead to an increased risk of mortality.

The study highlights some solutions and actions to avoid noise pollution : to reduce propellor noise from ships, alleviating seismic air guns, wind turbines …

This week an ambient to dub techno to hypnothic techno trip with Ossifer.

Ossifer is a techno artist hailing from Montreal. Specializing in overtone-heavy, polyrhythmic styles, much of his inspiration is drawn from the ritualistic practices of various cultures and the liminal states they encourage. He enjoys discovering obscure electronic music from across the ages and is becoming known for his hypnotic, atmospheric productions. 

He is co-manager of North Of Nowhere Records and is a member of the vol. x, Exposé Noir, and Homegrown Harvest collectives.

Cédric Elisabeth is a music producer from Paris, based in Copenhagen for 11 years. Throughout those years he self released five ambient EP’s and a few singles. In 2020 he began digging deeper into dance and electronic music with techno & house, whereafter he released an EP named Facing Reality with Detroit Underground.

Cédric relates his music to short movies, fashion videos, and all forms of moving visuals, transcending his ambient soundscapes into a tactile world. He recently joined the creative lab; ROOR; with his partner, creating music on an interdisciplinary level through collaborations in the art and interior design realm.
