RA New Tracks: June 2018

A project 18 months in the making, Marcel Fengler presents a IMF10, a three part compilation series detailing the past, present and future of his label Index Marcel Fengler. 

Part 2 focuses on the warmer and more soulful side of IMF and features an outstanding array of artists making their debut for the label, all of which have a strong personal meaning to Fengler. There’s FJAAK, the exciting Berlin trio he admires for their authentic identity and honest sound, a special Shed remix of the enigmatic VRIL whose timeless productions continue to strike a chord with him, good friend Eric Cloutier who he has long wanted to get involved in IMF and of course long-time label champion Thomas Hessler. Vienna’s Arthur Robert – a new face Marcel discovered after he sent him tracks over Facebook – contributes a beautiful shimmering work to the compilation. 

Highlighting this section of the project is the first AZUR track – Marcel’s new side project. He explains: “I’ve always liked to be diverse with my music, but I also don’t want to confuse people. This is the reason why I decided to give my melodic side its own identity. My music under the Marcel Fengler name will go back to its roots and be more raw and rough in production terms.”

Part 2 focuses on the warmer and more soulful side of IMF. Highlighting this section of the project is the first AZUR track – Marcel’s new side project. Raw Culture for its 2nd birthday is so proud to introduce its little sister: GHETTO CULTURE.
Ghetto Culture is a series of releases inspired by ghetto house sound, techniques and feelings but reinterpreted in a modern way.
This first release is signed by Ghetto 25, the punk connexion between two mysterious french artist with only purpose of making unintelligent tracks for unintelligent people. Footwork, hard twerk and champion league are their only goals for next seasons.
The EP includes a remix delivered directly from Chicago's ambassador of ghetto sound : PAUL JOHNSON.
This series of releases will include a little fanzine with an exclusive interview to the master PJ , some exclusive art work from the french duo and some other gems.

The release will be available from the start of September in a limited series of 300 hand stamped vinyl + fanzine.

A Cure For Melancholy

At long last! We’re delighted to present a hypnotic time-capsule courtesy of Dissmentado aka Ismael Pinkler from Carisma and Kompakt collaborator, Máximo Graesse Bondino. 

Recorded during summer trips in Buenos Aires and spending autumn in Tromso, Norway between 2006 - 2010, Maximo and Ismael met several times during that period and used friends houses and studios to produce a long list of material, selecting later the best of it for this compilation.

The tracks are long and slow, with deep and moving beats and long background sounds dedicated to warm up dreamers and after hour survivors. 

The elements develop their movements in a relaxed way through the tracks creating a loose feel. Every beat was played with their hands and there is no arpeggiated melodies to remind you where the ground is.

The release is complemented by a beautiful painting by the supremely talented Glasgow-based artist, Rosie McGurn     
 
Out on August 17th via Kompakt.

Marcel Fengler’s IMF label is putting out a three-part compilation this month to celebrate their tenth release. A project that has taken almost two years to complete, it will feature artists new and old to the label including Shed, Luke Slater, Scuba, Arthur Robert and AVION.  Across 18 tracks, Fengler has said the project hopes to showcase the eclectic nature of the label and the full range of music its artists have produced.

Long-time label collaborator Thomas Hessler features heavily across the compilation. Premiering is his original on the compilation, the melancholic, euphoric and funky ‘Senses'.
