Hesh is somewhat of a traveler. He spent the last few years between Leeds, Brussels, Berlin and Maastricht and is now back in Brussels again. In his time in these cities he studied music in depth, discovering a deep passion for an environmental sound. His musical journey started with house music and then drifted away to acousmatic music, soundscapes and ankle breaking techno. INDEx Mix #40 - Hesh

Defrag is extreme sound design and audio rhythmic experimentation of Jeff Dodson, a composer and sound designer living in Los Angeles CA.

Defrag's influences like IDM, dubstep and experimental abstract glitch, filter into his music. With his classical background giving it a more cinematic progression. Orchestrated strings, piano, classic analogue synths and software processing add up to a fusion of analogue warmth, modern classical and raw digital abstraction.

That he chooses instead to make his attention to detail the vehicle for his songs rather than their focus is not only admirable, it’s a definitive comment on his priorities and where they lie. Defrag makes complicated music, but you can completely forget that in the moment and just experience it.

INDEx Mix #41 - Defrag

Foreign is the pseudonym used by Miguel Vázquez under which he plays sets of IDM, avant-techno and electro sounds, combining the smoothness and efficiency of transparent melodies with abstract landscapes and dense atmospheres loaded with complex polyrhythmic structures. Throughout the years Foreign has played in several events of Hard Taste, A.I. Series and in clubs like NAO, Dub Club, Specka, Graffiti, Shagü Club, etc. Has also published podcasts for different record labels and web platforms (Sin Hilo, Gladio Operations, Zanderhythm, Archaic, etc.). In 2022 he created his own label, Mutoscope Records, mostly oriented to IDM sound. Its first release (by Veelargo) was released in November 2023.

This Mix was done with all vinyl except for track 11.

Sardinian born Aritmia Sonora is now based in Amsterdam, exploring the intersections of experimental electronic music and bass culture. While his passion for field recordings carries his creativity back and forth from his studio to landscapes overseas, the Dutch city lights are made for digging fresh wax and building community. Niccolò is also curating Decadance, a platform which recently debuted as a record label, by announcing the release of “Rizoma Granulare”, out on March the 31st.

INDEx Mix #45 - Aritmia Sonora

This mix is a reflection of my 10+ year journey through the (bass) music scene as a listener and later as a DJ, Event Curator and Label Manager of "Eyesome". The selection starts off rather gentle around the 120-140 bpm mark with dub(step) and 4x4 UKG material before dipping into drum 'n bass. Both styles were highly influential to my taste in music from early on and up until this day continue to shape it. I feel lucky and privileged to be able to work with so many talented musicians on a regular basis. Hope you like the mix which I recorded - S/O Palanga Street Radio for allowing me use their studio.

Absolutely killer lineup at this festival, and top vibe both days. Big up Subland & ad noiseam for putting this up. Swarm & mono in full defect in a special liveset for this event, smashing shit up in the bar area. Turned out to be a 1 1/2 hour gig and this is the last uptempo part of it.
