February 2019 sees the release of more music from Catching Flies, this time in the form of a unique collaboration with legendary UK Grime MC Trim. Trim has worked with the likes of James Blake (and released his ‘fascinating’ (Pitchfork) debut album on 1-800 Dinosaur), Mark Pritchard, Mumdance and Skream, and has won much praise and a cult following for his intricate lyricism. ‘The Light’ is highly textured, deeply melodic and effortlessly marries live instrumentation (guitars, harps, a string quartet) with warm electronics… providing a fitting backdrop to what may be Trim’s most vulnerable and soul-bearing verses to date. The release is accompanied by a music video, directed by Greg Barnes, who has recently directed videos for the likes of Henry Wu/Kamaal Williams and Poppy Ajudha.

Catching Flies’ debut album ‘Silver Linings’ is Out Now. Containing shades of house and jazz, to hip-hop and electronica, ‘Silver Linings’ is a melodic mesh of bright electronics and intricate rhythms. 'Sloh' is il:lo’s fourth EP. Keeping in tune with their previous EP, their sound is a meeting of acoustic and synthetic instruments. Thereby mallets and brass converse with moogs and Junos. In 'Sloh', the production is designed as more electronic but still organic.

The symbiosis between heavy basses notes and atmospheric pads reminds the one between the body and the soul. The building heading into the sky of the cover illustrates this idea. In songs such as 'Niyati' the deep bass fixes the feet to the ground while the heady melody rises the soul.

'Sloh' is a new road on which il:lo wants to invite the listener. A journey to feel new emotions. Some parts of this road are peaceful ('Alma') while others have to be climbed to reach the top and discover new places ('a.me', 'Sloh') and let go. At the end of the journey the listener is invited to walk alongside the Austrian river of 'Ybbs', and to conclude the trip with a last (progressive) ascent ('Cami').
