Today we welcome Faru (@faruambient) with a generous 2h20 hours mix of dreamy and relaxing soundscapes.
Faru is a Berlin-based musician, designer, and multi-disciplinary Artist. He is crafting Drone and Ambient music from his nature recordings from around the world. His works have been described as a natural orchestra in a dream-like manner. Exploring movements of nature, noise, and harmonics.

Faru - "A moment of stillness"

Inspired by the documentary In Pursuit of Silence, I got encouraged to reflect on my relationship with silence and its role.
The mix is designed to evoke a similar sense of contemplation and reflection, offering a space for the listener to disconnect from the noise and distractions of everyday life and embrace the beauty of silence.
While absolute silence may be an ideal or a theoretical concept, in practical terms, it is not attainable or even necessarily desirable.
Each track blends seamlessly into the next, creating a cohesive and immersive experience that encourages the listener to let go of their thoughts and be present at the moment. I hope to offer a meditative and immersive listening experience to reconnect to the power of stillness.

Over my long career, I have selected my favorite pieces from numerous sound files that were regrettably shelved and re-arranged them into an album of 12 songs. This album is designed to evoke the landscapes of memories for each of the 12 months, both mine and yours.

Defying the passage of time, this work is over 90 minutes long.

When I was a child, I watched the movie "Stand By Me" and learned that in America, the new school year starts in September (while in Japan, the new school year starts in April). Drawing from that surprise, the story of this album also begins in September.

There is something special about that dark and nostalgic music that seems to be echoing from the past, as if breaking through another dimension of time, trembling through the gritty playback on a warped and dusty tape, fading in and out on a crumbling old photograph, shades of colours long gone... long gone. The music of Black Swan has embraced this noir-fi aesthetic throughout the years, ever since I first heard the debut, In 8 Movements, released in 2010. Immersed in chilling ambience, hauntology, and the ephemera left behind, the music of Black Swan captures the eerie essence of the in-between, exploring the shadowed depths that linger at the periphery. Exactly twelve years ago, I invited this mysterious artist from New York to make me a Halloween-themed mix, which I published here as Music For Masquerade. Today, I am premiering two tracks for you from his upcoming album on Past Inside The Present, titled Ghost, to be released, of course, on Halloween. This is now his ninth full-length release, in which the spirits roam in our world, leaving their voiceprints on abandoned reel-to-reels to be discovered and played back. And as the twenty pieces and vignettes recede and fade away, all we are left with are the memories imprinted on our hearts and minds. The memories of those who are long gone... long gone. As we will be some day.

The next release on London-based label @injazerorecords is a v/a compilation with all the proceedings going to mental health charity Mind. Spanning ambient, modern classical, and experimental electronic music, 'INJACOMP001' features contributions from the likes of EOMAC, Matt Emery and Throwing Snow side project Heathen Rites.

We're premiering a beautiful track called 'Closer' by Ukraine producer Oleg Shpudeiko aka @heinali. Here's what he had to say about it:

"'Closer' is from a far away 2012. Back then, I was finding my way back from a dark place I spent a great deal of time in before. So it's a fairly simple - I would even say therapeutic - recording that was brought about by a certain emotional experience. Memories of this experience grew dull with time, but the recording remains as is."
