The Last Mix

“I don’t know—actually, I don’t really like summer.” That’s Sulk @user-209866721 ’s straightforward take on Summer Commences, and it quietly informs the 17th installment of the Orbitinging mix series. “This mix includes scattered fragments from my life around May and June last year,” she says, “so maybe it’s best listened to in May or June (?).”

As a member of Shenzhen's OIL Soundsystem and Taipei based party collective Pure G, Sulk combines his passion for music with his party experiences, mastering various genres on decks naturally became his specialty. His selection is fierce with a sense of elegance, and that’s his secret to create the ruthless and irresistible vibe to the dance floor. Having inspiration from early EBM and Techno pioneers, his set often combine those sounds with some weird dancehall, baile funk, IDM, footwork and some jungle, or even some disco and new wave. Except from playing in various clubs in Taiwan and China, you can also find his appearances on online radios like NTS, Internet Public Radio etc, and he is now hosting the Platonic Intimacy show with Yinan on Baihui Radio to present more off–the–club sounds.

From the mix, Sulk singles out Cindy Lee – What’s Tonight To Eternity: “My friend illsee introduced it to me while we were playing a set at “Zhaodai On Leave”. We had a great time with friends. Afterward, I spent a few days alone in Tianjin and got sick, but the song and the scenes from the festival kept looping in my head.” For him, it’s a track perfectly suited to processing “the emptiness that lingers after emotionally intense moments.”

Lately, Sulk has been busy “listening to music, playing music, listening to music, playing music.” You can catch his appearances—online or in person—whenever they arise.

作為深圳OIL Soundsystem和台北派對組織Pure G的一員，Sulk長年穿梭於派對與音樂之間，駕馭不同的音樂風格自然成為了他的拿手好戲。他的選曲凶狠又帶著一份優雅與細膩，伴隨著一股與生俱來的流暢感。早期的EBM和Techno是他音樂品味的奠基，而不按常理出牌的他也喜歡各種古怪的Dancehall、Baile Funk、IDM、Footwork、Jungle──直至一些New Wave和Disco。他的足跡踏遍了台灣及中國各地，並曾在NTS Radio、Internet Public Radio、Suicide Club等電台出現。他也和好友Yinan以呈現更多元化的音樂為目標，共同經營著在百會電台上的月度節目「Platonic Intimacy」。

As spring turns to summer and the temperature rises, life enters a phase of full growth. Summer is associated with the heart and the fire element—liver energy wanes while heart energy grows stronger. It’s recommended to eat more sour and less bitter foods, nourish the liver and kidneys, and avoid excessive spicy food to prevent heat-related imbalances.
