Since launching in 2015, Sydney based Aaron Andrew's Chubby Records has become a well trusted Deep House imprint. Their long-awaited next release ‘Various Volume 4’ is perhaps their most expansive release yet, with four fresh cuts each with an accompanying remix stretched across two slabs of wax, with a who's who of some of the best names in house and techno.

Kicking off, Aleqs Notal goes deep on the immersive and hypnotic, 'Planetary Insanity'. His ultra-smooth deep Detroit styled techno laying a super solid foundation for the track. In-demand producer Life Recorder makes his debut on Chubby, turning the more streamlined original into a euphoric and optimistic dance floor gem.  Cheerier and breezier deep house warmth comes courtesy of Jose Rico's 'Agonias'. Known for his lively tribal beats, the melody is as unique and classy as ever, staying right in the sweet spot.  Leonid goes deep and shoots for a more stripped-down rework homing in on the chords and tribal vibes.

On the second piece of vinyl is one of Australia's most respected artists, Ewan Jansen, with ‘Basilica’.  It’s a late-night deep house groover that rides a sublime Detroit vibe.  One of the EP’s standout moments is by Veteran producer Nail, who turns the dial to up on his early morning take on Jansen's bubbler.  The man behind Planisphere (who had one of the hottest reissues last year) David Swatten, brings the most laid-back jam of the comp with the super smooth 'Wave Energy'.  Crystalized melodies chime off waves of house bliss in this super clean cut. Legendary techno artist, John Beltran’s more upbeat Chicago rerub adds his forte to the mix. Its’s a gorgeous revision of Swatten's brilliantly bittersweet missive that will end any night on a high.

This week we welcome accomplished Italian producer Nico Lahs, aka  Nicola Loporchio.  Hailing from Bari(Italy)he has been releasing deep, classy house music and high-quality sounds for over a decade on the likes of Ovum, Poker Flat and Rawax to name a few.

2020 saw the producer ramp up his output after a five years hiatus during which he focused on his Cosmic Garden alias and started his label Cosmic Rhythm, releasing in May “Freedom”, an LP of smokey vintage house,via Detroit born/Beijing based Adeen Records, to then issue a 12-inch via Brooklyn’s Dailysession Records and finally cap off this stellar run with an EP, “Blow Your Mind”, on Dan Curtin’s Metamorphic Recordings.

This year Nico Lahs released “Got Me Coming Back” on Jimpster’s Delusions Of Grandeur and “Make Up - The Edits” which is a compilation of hand picked 70s & 80s 39s featuring hidden dance, funk and disco gems compiled by Chez Damier which have been retouched and edited himself.

Manuel Darquart is a DJ and producer duo based between London and Auckland, currently run by Louis Anderson-Rich. Having already made a huge impact in a very short space of time on the electronic music scene, following releases for Coastal Haze, WOLF Music and Infinite Pleasure, they now have a new EP coming out on Slam City Jams. Drawing influence from classic Italian house labels such as Irma, Antima and Palmares, they have been putting their own twist and interpretation on the regular house track by joining the dots between yesterday’s golden era classics and today’s club bangers. We got a chance to ask them some questions about their workflow, how they'd describe their own music and what the future holds.
