CEM’s unique brand of emotive hysteria was forged in Herrensauna’s hedonistic Berlin furnace in the last few years, and as one of the party’s two core members, he has been at the heart of the operations since its inception. With the party attracting more and more attention for its critical contribution to Berlin’s queer community, as well as their raw italo-metal aesthetic, the opportunity came to move into Tresor, where it has cemented its place as a unique addition to Berlin’s nocturnal topography. CEM’s role in all this is twofold—firstly, as curator of the party’s unique mix of frenetic DJs and industrial-edged live performances; and secondly, as one of the resident DJs. The sheer pace of Herrensauna’s preferred grade of techno is offset by his enigmatic presence and selection. It’s a crucial edge of the party, and it’s rightfully brought CEM to the world’s attention.

MCMLXXXV is perhaps best known as a founding member of Herrensauna - the beloved queer party originating in Berlin - but the influence of his curational work resonates much further afield, encompassing the spheres of music, art and fashion with a sincere appreciation of subcultural movements and their associated aesthetics.
His DJ sets celebrate a countercultural approach to electronic music, drawing upon an intense, seductive fusion of charged rhythmic tension and obscure sonic imagery. With a comprehensive knowledge of genres ranging from EBM and electro to hard trance and industrial, his ability to weave seemingly disparate references together is the result of years spent dedicated to the underground, in all its grit and glamour.

Herrensauna reflects the need for a queer-led techno event in a city where underground and mainstream sit tensely alongside each other, and gentrification threatens the vast network of cultural spaces the city calls its own. Despite its name - a tongue-in-cheek reference to the clandestine culture of gay men’s saunas - it is the sense of community at the parties, which have now travelled the globe, that lend to their ever growing influence across the queer diaspora.

Starting out as a resident dj in the legendary, now closed Concrete club in 2012, 10 years later he looks back at countless gigs at numerous institutions all around the world. He also launched his first label @dement3d in 2011, followed by @xxlabrec in 2021, which functions as a research platform for independent minded artists whose musical aesthetic is oriented towards avant-garde electronic music.

@madalba was born in July 1985 in Bari, south of Italy. From a very young age, her musical interests moved across a broad spectrum, going from house and dance music to rock and punk leading her lastly to techno and club-culture.

At age 22 she approached the local scene as Djane with numerous performances in the club circuit of Bari. Through the years she has developed a continued and careful respect of the musical experience. She moved to Berlin in 2011 started djing with only vinyl records.

This helped her to build a strong reputation as an underground techno DJ, providing opportunity for her to play in clubs such as Tresor, About Blank, SchwuZ, SO36 and Mikz in Berlin where she lives today.

In September 2011, she spent one month in Detroit where she started the collaboration with DJ Seoul, Tom and Angie Linder of Detroit Techno Militia. This travel has definitely and radically changed her approach to the techno concept, which she considers more a political and social phenomenon and a lifestyle than just a musical genre.

Back to Berlin she immediately came into contact with the queer scene, then in full bloom, building a network primarily of interpersonal relationships based on mutual support and collaboration, a network that naturally strengthens over the years, leading her to basically all queer realities of the city and beyond. At the same time she cultivated her main profession as a trauma surgeon in a historically male-dominated environment which strengthens her awareness of her role as a woman in a still strongly male-dominated society.

Thanks to these solid experiences she became resident of the party Homopatik, at the time the flagship of the Berlin queer reality.

Her first releases on vinyl came out in 2014 on DTM-Label (Detroit) and Arkita Records (Berlin), the label that she spawned together with Synkopheit till 2016.

In 2017 she launched her own record label Future D\'e9j\'e0 Vu releasing 5 EP respectively by Transient X4, Ken Karter, Mannella a.k.a. DHARAXT, Phontonz & Shcuro, Rage Therapy.

In September 2017 she played her first house set for the summer closing of the Berlin party Buttons.

In Summer 2018 Madalba became resident dj at the historical club Tresor in Berlin. The same year she collaborated with the London based crew Aria with a party series in the UK capital.

Currently she is techno resident dj and co-organizer of the party Buttons in About teaming with Danilo Rosato, Anna Bolena, Jabob Meehan, Shingo Suwa, Akirahawks and Paolo Di Nola.

Over the years, his awareness of the communicative power of his role as a DJ not an end in itself but always aimed at creating a network based on the basic values of absolute respect for all forms of diversity, has been strengthened to the point carrier of all her artistic and interpersonal expressions.

@boris is kind of a charismatic, multifunctional weapon in the Berlin club life. His musical roots reach back to the mid 80s, when he lived in New York for four years where he absorbed the unique spirit of the seminal club Paradise Garage weekend after weekend. From the Club’s mentor Larry Levan Boris learned to believe in his musical intuition as well as a broad musical spectrum, which nowadays ranges from Disco, Hi-NRG, Post-Punk and (Kraut-) Rock to House and Techno, all of which Boris loves to throw into one set. “Music was most important for Levan. He was uncompromising and he knew how to convey it. That’s what I’m trying to achieve, too, when I’m djing.”

Many years later, Boris became a resident at Panorama Bar’s first incarnation in Berlin, where he was able to build a loyal following by playing long sets lasting until noon. “The crowd is always a lot more receptive for music at the end than at the beginning. That’s when I rather have the opportunity to present unusual stuff and that’s when I’m able to let my feelings run freely.”

After the old OstGut/Panorama Bar closed in 2003, Boris played in almost every club in Berlin, but when the follow up club Berghain opened its doors in 2004, he quickly focused on playing out here again. From 2005 till 2010 he had another musical platform, as he was taking care of the label Careless Records as an A&R. As a DJ, he is not exactly keen on refining a certain genre, but rather to push music with a certain twist.

Venezuelan born Berlin based, Hyperaktivist has been shaking the scene in and outside Berlin, with her characteristically energetic sets, unleashing a new wave of faster psychedelic-tinged trance, tribal techno and old school house pulsations, often with a cheeky nod to the 90’s rave era.
She started working for the development of club culture in her native Venezuela since an early age. There, she co-founded SOLO, the first club dedicated exclusively to electronic music in her hometown. After finishing a degree in mass media and journalism, she relocated in Berlin where she completed a diploma in sound engineering at the studios of the infamous Funk Haus.
In Berlin, she continues her work for the development of club culture as the architect of not one but two vital community-focused club nights.
Her first called Mess, Mindful Electronic Sonic Selections where she plays the role of organiser, resident and curato. Mess, it’s a forward thinking club night with a focus on women, queer and transgender artist from diverse cultural backgrounds, dedicated to the celebration of diversity
Mess supports DIY club culture by working out different collaborations with like minded collectives around the world. Mess happens at Ohm, the more experimental club from Tresor.
With Mess, Hyperaktivist has created a unique event in Berlin, attracting loads of attention for it’s contribution in pushing the conversation about diversity in the city’s musical landscape becoming an important platform for more underrepresented communities to show their force.
Her second project is named: Mala Junta. Hyperaktivist, co-founded this club night alongside Dj Tool. They both curate, organise and are residents of the party, and since 2019 they have welcomed D.dan as their third and newest resident. Mala Junta is considered one of Berlin’s
fiercest underground queer-techno parties, with a focus on inclusivity, Mala Junta approaches the faster, groovier edges of dance music with an open mind and a relentless spirit.
Hyperaktivist have directly influenced a shift in the scene, not only through introducing her hypnotising yet euphoric fresh sounds, but also by constantly advocating political values of equality & diversity at the forefront of her projects.
Since being selected as one of the Shape Platform for innovative music artists in 2016, she has been touring around the world. You can find her playing from Berlin’s most renown clubs to all across Europe, USA and South America, always bringing her characteristic energy and
commitment to the dance floors, merging genres with ease she takes influence both in her time spent in Berlin and South America.
