Shaleen [Only Vinyl] joins for DifferentSound Podcast #178.

For Shaleen every day in life is being accomplished by a constant rhythm. Inspired by the warmth of analogue sounds she found herself in playing vinyl only sets most of the time. Her DJ-Sets are pushing forward, mostly 90’s influenced combined with modern and exciting layovers. Shaleen constantly works on improving her production skills and again fell in love with the analogue world. She recently got her first modular system and is working on a live appearance. Her gig schedule shows that she has already gone world-known places like Tresor Berlin, Link Bologna, a Berghain appearance at Säule, E1 London, Radion Amsterdam and a lot more to mention. As a resident of „We Are Not Alone“ events she regularly plays at Revier Südost Berlin and as a resident of Seelen. Records she is regularly to be seen at Institut für Zukunft as well as at Distillery Leipzig.

I enjoyed blending influences during the first hour while maintaining a dark and mental direction. It was a mind blowing experience judging by the audience's reaction; the atmosphere quickly heated up, leading to a climax during the second hour of the set while still staying within soft influences, in order to respect the values of a true warm-up set. Yax is a techno DJ from Adelaide, Australia drawing influence from the likes of artists such as DVS1, Jeff Mills, and Setaoc Mass. His style is continuously evolving through extensive digging for deep, groovy, hypnotic, and minimal techno, as he takes inspiration from the 90s and early 00s era, while still adding a modern twist to his sets. Yax also curates a weekly podcast series called Yax Invites, which began in 2021 with the aim of showcasing talent from around the world with an emphasis on extended techno mixes.
