To celebrate this new episode, we are proud and delighted to host such an iconic figure from the Berlin Techno scene : BORIS

Boris is kind of a charismatic, multifunctional weapon in the Berlin club life. His musical roots reach back to the mid 80s, when he lived in New York for four years where he absorbed the unique spirit of the seminal club Paradise Garage weekend after weekend. From the Club’s mentor Larry Levan Boris learned to believe in his musical intuition as well as a broad musical spectrum, which nowadays ranges from Disco, Hi-NRG, Post-Punk and (Kraut-) Rock to House and Techno, all of which Boris loves to throw into one set. “Music was most important for Levan. He was uncompromising and he knew how to convey it. That’s what I’m trying to achieve, too, when I’m djing.”

After the old OstGut/Panorama Bar closed in 2003, Boris played in almost every club in Berlin, but when the follow up club Berghain opened its doors in 2004, he quickly focused on playing out here again. From 2005 till 2010 he had another musical platform, as he was taking care of the label Careless Records as an A&R. As a DJ, he is not exactly keen on refining a certain genre, but rather to push music with a certain twist.

Bajo el alias de Xorpel, este madrileño de 27 años siempre está buscando la innovación y los contrastes en sus sets. Influenciado desde joven por sellos como Blueprint, Theory, Prímate o Warm Up entre muchos otros Xorpel siempre ha intentado rebuscar en lo más hondo de la industria para sacar el sonido que más se asemeja a su carácter.

Sus sets se mueven desde el Techno hipnótico, repetitivo y contundente hasta el sonido más groovy o hardgroove pasando por toques de electro o EBM.
Actualmente es residente de Ethos Alternative Club y Pomafest en Madrid, donde también es promotor junto a sus socios Symbiosis, Werc, Dani Duran y Root Noise.

Under the aka Xorpel, this Madrid born 1994 and based in Berlin is always looking for innovation and contrasts in his sets. Influenced from a young age by labels such as Blueprint, Theory, Prímate or Warm Up among many others, Xorpel has always tried to dig deep into the industry to find the sound that most resembles his character.

His sets range from hypnotic, repetitive, hard-hitting techno to groovy, hardgroove, electro, EBM and many other styles. He is currently a resident of Ethos Alternative Club and Pomafest in Madrid, where he is also a promoter together with his partners Symbiosis, Werc, Dani Duran and Root Noise.

I enjoyed blending influences during the first hour while maintaining a dark and mental direction. It was a mind blowing experience judging by the audience's reaction; the atmosphere quickly heated up, leading to a climax during the second hour of the set while still staying within soft influences, in order to respect the values of a true warm-up set. DJ Sun joined us for this month's show for 2 hours of modernised grooves, perfectly showcasing where our current sounds are at.

The, now, Montpellier based DJ/VJ/Producer & Co-Owner of Otium District has been very busy with some exciting, forthcoming releases and the team have recently taken their event series from Geneva to Paris. Been a big fan of DJ Sun since discovering his track 'Uh Ah' last summer on Akronym and something between us might just be bubbling away in the pipeline, so it's a pleasure to have him join us in July.
