Adam McCoy is a musician and dj based in Melbourne, Australia. To some he might perhaps be better known as Citizen Maze, a producer who has developed a following for his abstract, ethereal take on ambient, house and techno.

His two releases on Analogue Attic were critically acclaimed for their wise, deep and pensive approach to the genre. They cemented him as a producer operating at a level very much beyond his years. 

When he approached us and asked if he could contribute a mix to our series we weren't entirely sure what to expect, we knew it might be dreamy, we knew it would be dubbed out. However, it's wholeheartedly interesting and refreshing to see an artist deliver a mix showcasing a different side to their own musical interests.

This time Adam digs deep for obscure IDM, Drum n Bass and focusses on setting a mood.

Citizen Maze: The 'Wednesday Alternative' Mix

It is undeniable that we are living in uncertain times. For those of us failing to fit the patriarchal neoliberalist mould, we have lost hope in the future. We can see capitalism is not working but we cannot yet envisage an alternative. In a world where security is no longer feasible, the only constant we can rely on is change. Regardless of one’s point of reference, we can understand that every aspect of life, physical and mental is in flux and perhaps this transience is the only thing we can depend on.

This month we have invited composer and multidisciplinary visual artist, @amosphere, to ruminate on these ideas and create an hour of relief from these (and other) anxieties. A temporary suspension of reality…

Marco Shuttle
Operating in the abstract regions of techno and coming from a visual background, Marco Shuttle has carved out his own little niche in recent years. Releasing on outlets such as Time To Express, The Bunker and Clone, Marco Shuttle's journeying..

Marco Shuttle has always achieved a lot with a little, and that is the singular aesthetic that stands him apart. His cinematic techno sounds are unusually organic: they build pressure in subtle ways and his meticulous grooves never fail to take listeners on a trip to somewhere new and exciting. As a result of this, he has become a firm favourite amongst the techno cognoscenti and has released on some of the most revered labels of the day, from famed New York club The Bunker’s new label to Peter van Hoesen’s untouchable Time To Express via Clone SOS and his regular home, Eerie Records.
Italian born but London based, where he also gained his MA in Fashion at St Martin’s. What ties his creative work together is a focus on abstract yet organic texture and the same thing defines his tightly woven DJ sets from fabric to Berghain to Labyrinth in Japan. His eclectic cerebral sound takes cues from jazz and musique concrete as much as it does from acid house and Detroit techno.
Early breakout records like his 'The Vox Attitude' have been followed up with great abstract outings on Clone and remixes for Third Side, whilst the future promises a collaboration with compatriot and fellow producer and friend Donato Dozzy as Anxur. It will land on Eerie, Marco’s own well-formed label and is sure to be another supple and succulent offering that proves Marco Shuttle to be a uniquely minded techno troubadour.

VBC [Vibrance] aka Victor J. is the soul behind the Vibrance collective, and resident artist for the Monument clubnights. Nurturing a special bond with Nature, he injects his vision for the in-forest festival La Vallée Électrique, curating the Forêt stage which highlights hypnotic electronic music and the beauty of south of France surroundings.

Currently based in Stockholm, he pays through this mix a tribute to his current home and playground, as well as an invite to discover the beauty of the northern sounds. This 68-minutes selection is strictly composed of Scandinavian music, and aims to picture the harmonious variety of landscapes between the Swedish capital and Copenhagen.

Victor offers us a mix in a very personal and contemplative dimension, a true manifesto of the best of the nordic ambient scene : hypnotic loops of grainy bass lines, heartbreaking melodies, throbbing rhythms, field recordings and cold noises for a homogeneous final rendering.  As indicated by the title and artwork related to the mix, it's a real journey through Scandinavia and its mysterious landscapes, made with love and passion.

When you feel Marco Uson’s soundscapes, the depth guides  you into a mental exploration through infinite ecosystems of hypnotic music. Currently focused on the deepest side of Ambient, Marco Uson is a producer, composer, label owner and live act with a total devotion for knowledge and nature. 
Throughout the last decade, Uson has been crafting music under several different aliases. His pieces ranging from Ambient to Techno have gained international recognition, made available via some of the most respected labels around like Traum Schallplatten and Iboga Records, as well as running his own imprints USON and Uzons Records.  
This passionate sonic artist specialized in deep inner sound journeys, is the mind behind USON, a record label that showcases some of the finest modern ambient producers, on a highly conceptualized imprint oriented to generate consciousness towards endangered wildlife, the protection of nature and sustainability on our planet, 
The quality is consistent, Marco Uson continues his legacy in the ambient/electronic music world.
