This edition of our mix series features Adlib. We've known this guy for quite some time and it's been truly amazing to watch his journey as a DJ over the last 15 years. Adlib was playing a set on Twitch not long ago and it was so good we knew we had to have it for our series. If there’s one way to describe this mix, is that pure acid flows throughout— figuratively, sonically & beyond. Shane Shumate, better known by his stage name Mascara (stylized as M△S▴C△RA) was an anonymous, prominent ‘witch house’ band starting in NYC.  Since 2010, his production and dj mixes have focused on a wide range of electronica and experimental noise, dark techno, & minimal house.

Born and raised in the Seattle area and always surrounded by different types of music. My personal musical journey took me from 80s synth-pop, to early rap & hip-hop, metal, grunge, punk, and then industrial music, before finding house, techno, and the underground Seattle rave scene in the early 90s. After going to my first rave in 1993, I was absolutely hooked, started collecting vinyl, and bought my first set of Technics SL1200MK2 turntables and DJ mixer in 1995. 

Collecting vinyl and DJing led me to Platinum Records Seattle, an underground vinyl store,  where I worked from 2000 to late 2003, during a massive resurgence of rave culture in Seattle. During that time, I played multiple raves at old venues like NAF, Studio B, Club Insight, Club FX, and clubs/after-hours like Aero Space, Noc Noc, Liquid Lounge, Club Contour, etc. 

At the end of 2003 I starting working for Rane Corporation WA, a pro-audio/ DJ mixer company that was based in Mukilteo area from 1981 until the closing of the factory in 2016. While at Rane from 2003-2016, I worked as a Product Specialist, Technical Support, Product Clinician, Social Media Manager, Artist Relations, Beta Tester, Project Manager, and Product Design, and the designer of the infamous Rane MP2015 and Rane MP2014 rotary DJ mixers. 

Fast forward to today, I am still DJing, still raving, and now throwing underground parties in the Seattle area (ifykyk 😘). I'm a resident DJ for the Diffusion crew, Brit Jean Presents, and Blue Moon. I've been producing music under the name "Double Helix," a musical duo with my good friend Rob Ali, with two releases out (so far) on Deep Contour Music, and Seattle's own Uniting Souls Music!

Music, dance, & art lover, event producer, and owner of Crystal Lounge in Seattle's downtown area.

She works tirelessly to make all her events more interactive, fun, inclusive, and safe. She loves to dance, loves to smile, and loves to help make events a memorable experience.

As a compassionate community advocate, she helps build networks for the community to work together better, and create enjoyable, supportive spaces.

Michelle is the creator and host of the Crystallography Gem + Mineral Market, Seattle Clothing Exchange, Seattle Gem & Mineral Show, Seattle Unique Boutique, LIFE:FORMS Festival, co-hosted Soft Option for 6 years at Monkey Loft, assists in marketing/social media for Camp Conception burning man events, and owns a crystal and mineral shop in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood called Crystallography Gems.

She is an admin/creator of multiple community-building groups on Facebook. Most prominently: Seattle Church of House Music, Crystallography Gem + Mineral Market, Seattle Unique Boutique, Seattle Mineral Market Group, Seattle Clothing Exchange, and Promoters Helping Promoters.

The Harmonica wielding DJ that loves music, people, puns and B horror movies!!  Crossing the bridge between analog and digital is Night Train.  Choo Choo!!
