This edition of the Innerflight Broadcast features Seattle's Eliogold. Elio and I connected over our love for James Holden and circa 2000 era Electro House/Electroclash/Dance Punk. Countless conversations (and him helping me ID a track from a James Holden mix that I've literally been searching for, for about a decade!) later, we decided we needed to get a mix from him.

Here are some words he had for us about the mix:

"The maze represents the twists and turns I like to take in most of my sets, apparently incoherent at times, but I like to think that there’s order in my chaos. 

I wanted to make this mix special so I made sure to include a lot of unreleased material and rare cuts, also one new track from a forthcoming EP of mine. 

The mix also includes a reference to the wild underground parties we used to throw in Tucson, AZ."

Born and raised in the Seattle area and always surrounded by different types of music. My personal musical journey took me from 80s synth-pop, to early rap & hip-hop, metal, grunge, punk, and then industrial music, before finding house, techno, and the underground Seattle rave scene in the early 90s. After going to my first rave in 1993, I was absolutely hooked, started collecting vinyl, and bought my first set of Technics SL1200MK2 turntables and DJ mixer in 1995. 

Collecting vinyl and DJing led me to Platinum Records Seattle, an underground vinyl store,  where I worked from 2000 to late 2003, during a massive resurgence of rave culture in Seattle. During that time, I played multiple raves at old venues like NAF, Studio B, Club Insight, Club FX, and clubs/after-hours like Aero Space, Noc Noc, Liquid Lounge, Club Contour, etc. 

At the end of 2003 I starting working for Rane Corporation WA, a pro-audio/ DJ mixer company that was based in Mukilteo area from 1981 until the closing of the factory in 2016. While at Rane from 2003-2016, I worked as a Product Specialist, Technical Support, Product Clinician, Social Media Manager, Artist Relations, Beta Tester, Project Manager, and Product Design, and the designer of the infamous Rane MP2015 and Rane MP2014 rotary DJ mixers. 

Fast forward to today, I am still DJing, still raving, and now throwing underground parties in the Seattle area (ifykyk 😘). I'm a resident DJ for the Diffusion crew, Brit Jean Presents, and Blue Moon. I've been producing music under the name "Double Helix," a musical duo with my good friend Rob Ali, with two releases out (so far) on Deep Contour Music, and Seattle's own Uniting Souls Music!

monotropa. brings the element of feel to his music. The focus on the sensual brings an element of depth that helps in tapping into pieces and parts that stay in hiding so we can sweat them out on the dancefloor. 

From an early age, music was a fundamental piece of his life. A realization of an infatuation clarified music production as a critical piece of his life. This was only deepened by the supportive amazing community that he has been introduced to and integrated into. 

A movement united through sound, dance, and love.

Citrus Age spins up sets of dusty deep house and slow techno that connect the personal to the ethereal, and the wild to the tender.

As a lifelong musician in pursuit of exceptional vibrations, Citrus was initially drawn to dance music by the heady and sparkling sounds emanating from the art cars of Black Rock City. Citrus Age began DJing in 2019 and quickly became a resident for Seattle deep house collective Reflect, playing parties throughout the Pacific Northwest. Always one to hold a vision, he led the Reflect collective into their current form as a crew changing the shape of deep, melodic music in the Pacific Northwest through their open air parties, micro festivals and club nights that feature bespoke line-ups of local and international talent.

Citrus Age's selections integrate compelling, steady rhythms, intricate and sublime melodies, and a definite sensuality. These sensibilities, held within the context of the party, make for sets that raise the vibration on the dance floor and invite everyone to turn on, tune in and come together.
