Belgian-Caribbean provocateur Charlotte Adigéry and her long-term musical partner, Bolis Pupul release their phenomenal debut album Topical Dancer via Soulwax’s iconic label DEEWEE.
 
Cultural appropriation and racism. Social media vanity. Post-colonialism and political correctness. These are not talking points that you’d ordinarily hear on the dancefloor but Charlotte and Bolis have ripped up the rulebook with their debut record. Featuring standout singles ‘Blenda’, ‘HAHA’, ‘Thank You’, ‘Ceci n’est pas un cliche’ and today’s focus track ‘Making Sense Stop’, Topical Dancer - which cements Charlotte and Bolis as a duo under both their names for the first time and is co-written and co-produced by Soulwax – is both a triumph of kaleidoscopic electro-pop and “a snapshot of how we think about pop culture in the 2020s.”

Adesso Music taps South African heavyweights KingDonna and Argento Dust for powerful new remixes of Junior Jack & Pat BDS’s recent smash, ‘E.V.O’.

A rising force in Johannesburg’s house music scene, KingDonna has built a reputation for blending traditional African rhythms with forward-thinking house grooves, with releases on top labels from MoBlack to Nervous. His remix of 'E.V.O.’ is a perfect showcase of this duality – fusing heartfelt, soulful melodies with deep, driving grooves that will light up dancefloors worldwide.

Having cut his teeth as part of The House Junkies collective, Durban-born producer Argento Dust boasts a refined and emotive sound that has caught the attention of legends like Black Coffee and led to releases on Madorasindahouse as well as collaborations with Shimza and more. Dust’s take on ‘E.V.O.’ delivers a more atmospheric and stripped-back approach, with delicate synth and piano motifs raining down over hypnotic rolling drums.

Founded in 2019 by Junior Jack and his music partner Pat BDS, Adesso Music has become a beacon for club-ready, forward-thinking modern house music. With releases from artists like Flashmob, Wally Lopez, CASSIMM, Eldeanyo, Tim Cullen, AndThen, and many more, the label has cemented itself as a champion of both established and emerging underground talent and a definite one to watch.

Goodbye 2017, hello future! Monaberry proudly present their final release of the year with the one and only Upercent. New to the label but no stranger to our record collections, the Valencian artist has made a name for himself over the last few years on labels such as Diynamic, UponYou, Snatch!, Sincopat and Culprit among others with a spell-binding sound that's consistently rich in emotion and hypnotically heavy in weight… A sound that fits the Halle house label perfectly.

Proof is in the listening; 'Fastic' is an eight minute mystical movement that ripples with layers and dynamics. The shimmering percussion, the bluesy guitar twangs, the far-away vocal yearns, the gentle enveloping ebbs and flows with elements of tribal, tech and prog and fat dollops of cosmicity.

'Badarra' flips the groove coin with a much denser bass/kick relationship. Palpitating, pumping and progressively developing momentum element by element, key transition points include the molten chimes, the scattering percussion, the strange humanisations and the black hole breakdown that sucks deep deep deep into the silence before catapulting you back into the insistent pumps and added Spanish strums. Weighing in at almost nine minutes, once again it's an open and shut case of full immersion. And Monaberry wouldn't have it any other way. 

What a way to sign out for another exciting year in music. See you in the future…

ON THEIR RETURN TO DESOLAT BARCELONA BASED MUSICIANS PULSHAR DELIVER A DELICIOUSLY DEEP AND TRIPPY EP

Following on from 2010’s critically acclaimed album ‘Inside’, Spanish duo Aphro and Pablo Bolívar aka Pulshar return to Desolat with the ‘Different Drum EP’, and all four tracks showcase the deeply hypnotic yet richly soulful sounds which the duo are synonymous with.

Opener ‘Wasting Time’ is a collaboration with Desolat label head Loco Dice. The track, which was creating during a jam session between these friends, is a deep and twisted journey, with ocean-deep sub-bass, and features Loco Dice’s own distorted vocals which echo in and out of the music.

On ‘So Tired’, Pulshar have expertly crafted a captivating rich soundscape packed full of warm textures and atmospheres. ‘Different Drum’ is a similarly engaging and uplifting track complete with soaring synths and crisp drums.

The 12” is rounded up by the standout ‘She’s Got A Ticket’, with its infectious groove, rich sounds and contagious vocal layered over its psychedelic rhythm.

On ‘Different Drum’ Pulshar have demonstrated with aplomb why over the last few years their distinctive and soulful brand of psychedelic electronic music has been turning heads and moving dancefloors.
