 Pioneering an international network of artists since its origin in 1991, together John Digweed and Nick Muir have provided a gateway for the visions of underground musics most profound names to consistently release their innovative and groundbreaking productions. Rooted firmly in the upper tier of electronic musics premier division, Bedrock has rightfully become a pivotal component in the hearts and minds of dance music lovers across the globe.

Driving forward from the releases of Structures One and Two in 2010 and 2011, John Digweed proudly announces his next showcase of all the styles and influences that have made Bedrock such an intrinsic element of dance musics tapestry. Featuring three CDs and an exclusive DVD that impeccably captures the trademark Bedrock sound, Re-Structured is yet another exceptional milestone in the history of Bedrock records.

Consistently enchanting the worlds most prolific dance floors, Re-Structured exhibits thirty-five tracks (twenty-one exclusive), which have been compiled and mixed by label head John Digweed over three discs. Welcoming new artists to Bedrock as well as inviting some revered favorites from over the years, Re-Structured intricately captivates Digweeds electric perception of how music should be experienced. Each of the three discs are merged together by the unyielding and mesmeric production style of Bedrock artists new and old, creating a listening experience no like no other.

Titled Re-Structured, CD one includes ten exclusive never before heard tracks, introducing the likes of Montel with his stellar production of At Night, alongside Lee Van Dowski and Joop Junior who all make their debuts on the Bedrock imprint. Never straying too far away from some of the labels most of enthralling releases, Digweed welcomes back leading members of the Bedrock family Dave Angel, Quivver and BOg with the masterfully crafted Ava.

Certain to entice a standing ovation from all types of Bedrock listeners, the second CD boasts a remarkable selection of reworks and remixes from some classics from the labels catalogue. Transforming these eleven tracks into a perfected listening experience, the likes of Electric Rescue, Joeski, and Sian all provide their colossal and limitless production styles re-constructing some of Bedrocks most adored releases.

October 1st 2015 saw John Digweed celebrate seventeen years of Bedrock with a momentous party at one of Londons most distinguished venues, XOYO. The third disc holds a very special live recording of Johns set at the anniversary event, capturing the party at its pinnacle point once again demonstrating why he is still one of the most sought after artists in electronic music today. Whether it be supplying assured floor fillers with his own euphoric sounding Track For Life, or mesmerizing the crowd with the melodic synth arrangements of Gel Abrils Carpet Sneak, his set at XOYO will undoubtedly go down in underground music folklore as one of his most memorable to date.

An inconceivable selection of productions fused together into a unique and eclectic release, Re-Structured reiterates the undeniable fact that John Digweed and Bedrock records are musical visionaries, responsible for shaping and inspiring the paths of so many artists to date. Best remixes happen when the initiative comes from the very own remixer, instead of by commission. This denotes admiration and respect to the original artist, as well as a necessity to provide your own vision to an already consolidated work. 

Berghain´s resident Kobosil delivers strong dancefloor instances blending his unique understanding of the Berliner techno with Zanias’s vocals. Agency is the new solo project of half of Operant band August Skipper. His debut track offers a mature evolution that guides the listener from a percussive beginning till a high pressured synthed end. In case one track is not enough to be remixed, Dax J's raved version increases the BPMs in a mixture of "Follow The Body" and "In Eternal Return". The closing track is signed by Unhuman and brings the original EBM atmosphere back to the record.

Kontravoid - Undone

One can imagine, listening to Kontravoid’s latest release, an alternate reality in which the cold-war played out to the background of drum machines and spectrographs, sinister audio technology manipulating a hidden frequency of the world’s unfoldings. Cameron Findlay returns to his masked alias for the first Kontravoid release since his debut self-titled album, years in the studio reap their rewards as the production on ‘Undone’ effortlessly cuts its way through hypnotic dance floor compositions.

‘Hold Nothing’ implements perfect song structure, with precise breaks, ferocious snare builds and simple repeated vocal phrases enveloping the main groove in symbiosis. A playful criminality sets the mood of the record here, one for pouted lips and furrowed brows on bunker, basement dance-floors.

‘The Last Thing’ is a straight forward dance floor stomper, arpeggiated synths batter the listener like blunt instruments, locking the body in a rhythmic cell, dissonant, steam whistle drones contrast with gurgling, radio transmission synths to shift the balance of the parts from uplifting wooze to downcast dance automaton.

‘Not Your Dream’ opens with a moment of primitive, science-lab techno, echo laden vocal jabs open the door to new-beat territory while the synth lines swing between pure rhythm and hypnogogic, alley-chase sound track, clocking in at seven and a half minutes, this is another track destined for synth-wave, dance floor greatness.

‘Undone’, the self-titled track from the release focuses on softer-synths and pads, still motivated by driving drums and percussion, the vision of a lone, masked figure emerges, cutting a path through mud and snow, factories half submerged in some destroyed, industrial miasma. Muttered vocals set a strict grounding to the piece, keeping the track from escaping into sentimentality, layers of cold synth melodies artfully weave between percussive crescendos as radio static crackles distantly.

As a natural companion to the record Schwefelgelb close with a remix of ‘Hold Nothing’, where the percussion is stripped back to its bare necessities and the synth parts are sliced down into even more pointed arpeggiations.

With his concrete approach to song writing and bear-trap grasp of dance floor composition, Kontravoid cements his reputation as one of the stand out voices in the current new-beat, synth wave scene.

Fire Rash Peeling leaves you no time to rest and punches your body straight into EBM's dirtiest territories. Dangerous dancefloor material, complete with industrial strength claps, perforating percussion and pads forged in feedback. Feel it from your face to your feet.  A moment of meditative mayhem follows with White Bone Spirit, a halftime wave weapon. 🔥In recent years governments all over Europe have lurched to the right, not least here in Denmark. Amongst a long list of new racist and xenophobic legislation – and as the neo-fascist Rasmus Paludan establishes his new party and is given government-funded protection for year-long hate-speach tours in areas with large Muslim populations – the Danish government is running several incarceration camps to hold rejected refugees. Living conditions in the camps are inhumane, children in them are being denied access to education, and according to humanitarian organisations many of the people held in them are showing signs of severe and increasing distress and mental illness.
Fighting against this shameful injustice is a growing movement called Together WE PUSH, which is dedicated to buying and delivering high-quality food and other necessities to the incarcerated families at the SJÆLSMARK camp, as well as organising events for the children there. Together We Push is comprised of a massive network of volunteers and is able to operate thanks to financial contributions from private citizens, support parties and fundraising initiatives.

Torgue smashes his way onto Trialz with 3 original dance floor crushers, that delivers in a signature Trialz vibe. Then we continue our voyage into the unknown with two very different remixes.  Today’s premiere is from London-based DJ and events curator Polanski. It is the DJ practice that influences Polanski’s remixing technique. Occasionally messy and disjointed, he sees his remix as a journey, where often you’ll find yourself entering through one gate of a sonic world but leaving it in another dimension. Never bound to one musical style, whether as DJ or remixer he tries to bridge the gap between the groovy and more experimental styles of dance music.

After remixing Ireen Amnes on Instruments of Discipline, Polanski continues with his A-Version concept. The concept borrows idea from the disco ‘version’. When some of the first 12” singles were pressed in the early days of club music (New York) they often included B-side remix from a local, well known club resident DJ. Some of them simply layered drum machine loops over elements of the original. With time, as the concept became more popular, those versions had often turned into epic 12-minute long, standalone compositions. 

For Polanski year 2020 marks twenty years “at the controls of the dance floor”. Never bound to one musical style, whether as DJ, remixer or solo producer, Polanski tries to bridge the gap between the groovy and more experimental styles of dance music.

We are motivated by the project of harmonizing the genre-transcending parallels that we see between the artists involved. To us, music provides an opportunity to create and explore without boundaries. It’s these exact feelings we wish to share with our audience.
