Dear Orphic, Float Records and HEDON,

First of all, I would like to show you my gratitude for the opportunity you’re giving upcoming, relatively unknown, artists (like me) with this contest. It shows you have the hearts in the right places. 

Secondly, the mix. The way I challenged myself is was in a three part way. As always, I tried to stay in the mix and really work behind my decks (I hope this translates well to the listener). Only then I can get a sense of fulfillment when I DJ. Moreover, where I personally challenged myself the most, was to refrain from the more hypnotic tracks I would play ‘normally’ and choose tracks that were ‘different’ but still that felt close to me as a person. Lastly, because my track selection differed from the usual, I utilized slightly dissimilar mixing techniques. Ones that give off a more old school ambience. 

That’s partly where the title “A Shift In Ambience” comes from. I tried shifting the ambience of sound, without feeling like it wasn’t me who was playing. I just transposed on my spectrum of musicality to a point where I felt it was suitable for the moment and my mood. 

Last but certainly not least, I truely was filled with enjoyment when recording this podcast and I couldn’t stop bumping my head around when playing these tracks. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Contains a healthy dose of my own and other Random Island tracks, including quite a few from future releases... and even a track I finished at Andy/Diagenetic Origin's apartment the night before.

Sa passion pour la recherche et la découverte de nouvelles sonorités lui permet d’enrichir son univers musical et d’être en constante évolution. 

Co-fondatrice du collectif La Taquinerie, elle est également résidente au sein du club La Gare, Le Gore les jeudis.

Alessandro Adriani is a lot of things – producer, DJ, live performer and label owner of Mannequin Records – but above all he is a tireless music researcher.
The Berlin-based Italian goes further than your average “crate digger” in pursuit of information about sounds, styles, artists and record labels, devoting countless hours to unearthing the untold stories behind the music he loves, regardless of when it was made.

Adriani’s obsession has naturally shaped his other musical endeavors, not least Mannequin Records, the label he established over than a decade ago, voted label of the month by Resident Advisor in 2017.

Over the years, the imprint has won praise from buyers and critics alike for its open-minded blend of on-point reissues, archival collections and fresh productions. The intriguing, leftfield mixture of material on offer – think techno, electro, cold wave, industrial, EBM, minimal synth, and more – is naturally a reflection of Adriani’s wide-ranging and off-kilter tastes (as you’d discover if you had a quick flick through his vast and growing record collection).

Adriani is distinctively drawn towards the dark and obscure, and you can hear this approach amongst the long, drawn-out mixes of his similarly eclectic DJ sets. 

Alessandro has contributed outstanding mixes for Resident Advisor, FACT, Crack Magazine, Bleep, Cxema and Dekmantel. On the festival circuit he’s made appearances at Berghain, Tresor, Atonal, Boiler Room, Dekmantel, ADE, Dimensions, Neopop, Positive Education, Signal and more, together with his bi-monthly dates at Berghain and Panorama Bar, a residency he’s held from 2016 to 2020.


As a producer, Adriani’s output naturally draws on these inspirations, but also reflects his obsession with electronic hardware. 

Under his own name Adriani has built a reputation for delivering heavy, angular and forthright club cuts for such celebrated labels as L.I.E.S. Records, Stroboscopic Artefacts, Jealous God, Pinkman and - of course - Mannequin Records.

code.response is a developer based in Greece, deeply immersed in electronic music.                          His journey began in the early 2008s, exploring the rich sounds of ’90s electronica, from breakbeat and Goa trance to ambient techno, drum & bass, and minimal house. 
Over time, this deep musical appreciation naturally led him to DJing and music production, shaping his own distinct sonic identity.

For the 16th episode, he has crafted a one-hour deep, hypnotic and atmospheric journey.
A trippy, immersive experience filled with wrapping sonic textures and mind bending soundscapes.
