Podcast 006 : Isorinne.

Michel Isorinne, ardent portrayer of the sad and melancholic, is a Swedish producer and artist most known for his work as half of the two man band Dard Å Ranj Från Det Hebbershålska Samfundet aka D.Å.R.F.D.H.S ( Field Records, Ne, Opal Tapes, Clan Destine , Total Black ), lesser known for his solo work which is comprised of four cassettes. Two released by Rimini based label MIXED-UP, one on Danish label Infinite Waves and his debut tape released on Blodörn.
Soon to have his work put on vinyl with two solo EPs scheduled for early 2016, exact date yet to be determined. First one to be released by Field Records.
With a unconditional love for music regardless of genre and age, Isorinne has for many years been putting together weird sounding, borderline chaotic mix tapes under the pseudonym DJ Katt Kosmos.

The jewel in the crown of Israel’s underground music scene, Red Axes have produced a steady stream of hits on labels like Permanent Vacation, I’m A Cliché, Crosstown Rebels, and on our all-inclusive culti label where they dropped what became, somewhat surprisingly, their biggest hit to date with Waiting For a Surprise. The dark, stripped down disco bomb had one of the most memorable hooks of the year in singer Abrão’s staccato chorus, a late night voodoo incantation that was always begging to be remixed. 

We asked fellow Tel Avivian Moscoman to direct his hot hands to the guitar, mellowing things slightly, stretching out the hooks and adding layers of ambulant percussion to his signature middle eastern flair. The man you love to hate to love breaks his bread and shares it with us all.

I discovered Esclé (@escle) in a voodoocast he had made for Voodoohop (@voodoohop), a super cool podcast series created in Brazil by an art collective.

Esclé aka Simon Clement is a German dj who is building his own way through the forest of electronic music & traditional : sometimes it sounds like the precursor English band African Head Charge, sometimes almost new age, then it’s pure ambient, before getting back to some mystical tribal music, or some pure electro. This is Esclé.

This mix has been recorded live and Wadaha means driver in Somali. This is a driver set, when the music evolves according to the landscapes and the moods of the passengers. Visual is from Nina Hach.

The Intergalactic Research Institute for Sound presents DE, a compilation of various artists representing Georgian electronic and ambient music.

დე / DE is a compilation of music from artists of different backgrounds getting together in order to showcase the dynamic influences within the Georgian scene. 
Tbilisi is getting worldwide recognition at the moment for its booming club scene, but what this project aims to illustrate is what is happening outside of the club context.

Natalie Beridze who has been performing worldwide since 2004 is known as the first female electronic music artist in Georgia, Rezo Glonti has built his studio inside the hull of his boat, and Zesknel is a resident of the renowned Bassiani club, while MYI and Severiane were discovered thanks to Myspace, Soundcloud, and word-of-mouth. All these talents manage in their own ways to present დე / DE, with murky and melancholic cuts.

Melancholia is at the core of beauty in Georgia. That is not the case in Germany and many other cultures, where melancholia is often charged and bound to a negative feeling, which some might perceive as weakness. Consequently, one could be tempted to say that even if it‘s electronic music, DE has a traditional Georgian quality. But that would be putting art in boxes or cases — because what is Georgian art nowadays, when so many artists from this origin are scattered around? As Giorgi Maisuradze states in his mission statement for DE, “the world is their home”.

Daniel Matysiak - mixtape to MY new friend BoBBi

Established in 2017, the Intergalactic Research Institute for Sound has been an outlet for artistic and experimental endeavors that go beyond electronic music.
Evocative soundscapes from Georgia were the first communication from the Institute. It has since released music from Ukrainian artist Stanislav Tolkachev, acclaimed duo Air Liquide, or Georgian producer Michailo.
Michailo notably worked on his EP in prison, sending files to the label through intermediaries. He was released early, shortly after his record came out.
These days, it is also the home of STAUB’s unknown artists and of the cello robots that keep company with Schloss Mirabell.
With its blurring aesthetics, the Institute travels from clubs to museums and always pushes its exploration further.
