An artist causing a buzz with his multi-faceted productions, Nopi debuts on Proton Music with his twin-track, "Parallel Words". Remixes come from Australian and US stars.

Finding himself allied to some of the most respected modern imprints with a sought-after deep house and melodic techno sound, Nopi has carved out a sizeable reputation for himself in 12 short months after a March 2019 debut for Pipe and Pochet. Since then, music for Nie Wieder Schlafen, Kindisch and Pablo Bolivar's Seven Villas, has seen the Ukrainian hit the ground running. Following up on May 2020's remix of Erdi Irmak for Proton Music, Nopi now returns with a debut EP. The title track is an immaculately crafted affair that bristles with intricate percussive intent while a cast of elegant and emotive, melodic characters mingle and entwine in brilliant sonic patterns. The result is a swathe of filtered arpeggios, textured pads and counterpoint motifs that evolve over a 7-minute piece in magisterial fashion. "Liquid Week" continues the delicate percussive framework as fizzing hi-hats form the backdrop for hypnotic melodies to develop alongside a smooth lead sequence. Hitting its stride with the wow and flutter of tape delay at the breakdown, subtle variations add depth and texture to the track.

Fresh from the launch of their Meanwhile imprint, GMJ and Matter continue to find themselves permanent fixtures in the upper echelons of the underground dance scene. Prolific and talented, the pair's solo and collaborative work has become a central component of the Proton Music catalogue with their "Superposition", "Osmosis" and "Interscope" EPs. Remixes for Andre Sobota, Rudy and Juan Deminicis' "Tao the King" in April 2019, are now complemented by a stunning interpretation of "Parallel Words". Turning Nopi's track into a pulsating progressive house gem, a driving beat and rolling percussive groove supply the framework for white-noise washes and multi-layered pads to sweep across the stereo spectrum. Making its mark in a powerful third movement, echoes from the original cascade through the mid-range to typically mesmerising effect.

Founder of the highly regarded Manjumasi imprint alongside Atish, Mark Slee is a renowned name across the clubs and bars of his San Francisco home with notable appearance further afield in New York and Berlin. With more than two decades experience in the realm of electronic music, the US artist has developed a distinctive musical identity that has seen him feature on an array of high-profile imprints that include Looq Records, Cityfox and Seven Villas. Becoming a regular on Proton Music with remixes for Oliver Lieb, Navar and Rudy, Slee's "Veranda" EP in July 2020 showcased three original tracks full of ingenuity and musical craftsmanship. Returning to remix Nopi, the Mark Slee interpretation is full of the poise and grace that has become such a staple of his work. Building through chunky rhythmic groove, melodic echoes of Nopi's original emerge through a free-flowing electric organ that wends itself through the "Dry Ice Dub Mix" in melodic exploration. Extended delays ripple effortlessly while effects and sub-bass add weight.

Sparkling original tracks and remixes from GMJ and Matter and Mark Slee have Nopi revelling in "Parallel Words".

Nōpi - Parallel Words (GMJ & Matter remix)

Afrodita, sexto EP de Various Artist de Droid9 South America, incluye 3 mezclas originales de puro Progressive House & Melodic Techno realizadas por grandes artistas. Entre ellos se encuentran desde Canadá  Aliens Like Us, Sergio Avila de Mexico y Gaston Sosa desde Argentina.

“The Other Side” es el primer track de este EP, realizado por Luke Renshaw y Ken Scoretz AKA Aliens like us, dos experimentados productores de Canadá. En el mismo, se puede notar una fina pista de progressive house, etérea y percusiva, que se inspira en los himnos clásicos del género de principios de la década de 2000, acompañado con sonidos modernos. Es una pista amigable para todos los clubes de baile, un ritmo implacable, acompañado de melodías increíbles con vocales celestiales y una gran línea de bajo que le da un groove particular.

"Shadow" segundo track, creado por Sergio Avila, un gran productor de México. En este track se puede apreciar desde el comienzo una base sólida con un golpe potente, acompañado de una gran línea de bajos lo cual genera un groove que no deja de movernos desde su comienzo, a medida que el track avanza se puede apreciar una fina mezcla entre armonias y melodias que nos conduce a un viaje de oscuridad sin retorno. Esta creación sin dudas es excelente  para explotar cualquier pista de baile.

"1810" es el tercer y último track, a cargo de Gaston Sosa, un excelente productor de Argentina con gran futuro. Desde el comienzo se puede apreciar una batería sólida, acompañada de unos finos golpes percusivos al estilo minimal, a medida que este avanza nos encontramos con un groove furioso y muy potente, generado por una fina mezcla entre un golpe bien marcado y un bajo que nos mantiene aferrados al piso sin que dejemos de movernos, junto a una melodía muy bien lograda e hipnótica y  un vocal que nos sumerge en un completo viaje progresivo de principio a fin.

Kicking off 2021 by continuing to support up and coming talents in the modern underground dance arena, Meanwhile begins the year with a twin-track offering from gifted Ukrainian artist, Nōpi, and his sublime “Spoon Light” EP.

One of the brightest stars in the underground house cosmos over the past eighteen months, Nōpi has continued to excel with a raft of original and remix material throughout 2020. An array of leading imprints has thus queued up to feature the Ukrainian’s work with Cid Inc.’s Replug, the ever-reliable, Anjunadeep and Jacob Henry’s Silk Music all releasing original music in the last months of the year; the latter with the mesmerising seven-track “Bila” EP that has seen Nōpi reach a fitting high point at year’s end.

Now debuting on Meanwhile, the title track is a scintillating tour de force that bristles with trademark emotion and glorious melodic brio. Driven purposefully forward with rich, sustained bassline and delicate percussive flair, shimmering pads and muted arpeggio pan the stereo spectrum with ease as ethereal vocal cuts whisper barely heard phrases, rich in reverb and delay. Building in intensity via a glorious breakdown, “Spoon Light” picks up the pace again in the third movement to create a rarely heard emotive intensity as dizzying gated synths add further aural colour.

Partner track, “Creative Sheet” continues the intelligent melodic narrative of its predecessor as an intricate percussive top-line and immaculately syncopated bass groove provide a wonderfully worked rhythmic framework. Evolving seamlessly into the second movement, an expertly woven sonic tapestry reveals itself via panned effects, pulsating white-noise washes and potent synth phrasing. The result is a magnificent illustration of Nōpi’s talent and ability to match groove and melody with poise and purpose.

Bending sonic reality with expert skill and craftsmanship, Nōpi’s “Spoon Light” is full of iridescent colour.

It is important to mention that the quad is not going to limit the newborn imprint’s catalog only with own productions. Intricate Records is also a promising platform for implementation of creative aspiration of other talented producers who feel themselves on the same wave quite often.

«Right at the moment there is no single record label which coincides with my musical taste and general conception, which I would like to see being embodied. Starting a new imprint with the fellow guys, I’m looking forward to the having the possibility of fulfilling myself as an A&R-manager and making the current musical world at least a little bit better. We are going to collaborate with our friends and associates from around the world. I certainly believe, if such projects are held with well-intentioned mood and built on relations of friendship, there are certain chances to make something special and terminative».
