Poker Flat Recordings - surely one of the most essential and influential labels of the past couple of decades, treat us to something a little different - and very, very special. 

Classic Jams reaches back to the roots, pulling out long lost, forgotten gems – the music that first inspired and invigorated a generation of electronic producers and dancers including Steve Bug.

Take a trip into the deep, jacking, acidic house and raw Techno expressions that had a profound impact on the current Poker Flat roster - from the late 80s up until the present.  

Most of these tracks are long since out of print on vinyl, and fetch considerable amounts on the 2nd hand market. Likewise, some have never been available digitally. Selected and complied by label boss Steve Bug, these are secret weapons for open-minded DJs, and a valuable document of house music’s enduring legacy for the home listeners. 

Aquarius’ warehouse anthem, Jam To It Again, originally out on City Limits in 1990, still sounds like a jolt of adrenaline to the system. Likewise the obscure but stunning Transcendence by Magique Noir will do doubt ignite dance-floors in exactly the same way it did the first time around. Going even further back, Classic Jams also shines a light on Larry Heard’s sublime Never No More Lonely under his Fingers Inc moniker, as well as the 1988 deep house bomb Musiq by Myoshi-Morris which appears in a brand new exclusive Steve Bug edit. 	

Other highlights include Swing City from 1992 with the pure NY house groove of Make You Mine. Hundreds of contemporary producers are desperately trying to emulate this effortlessly pure house moment - none come close. 

Yet it’s not all from our US cousins - tracks that helped kick start a movement in Europe also feature – see VDT’s It’s Just a Dream featuring MC Valium – essential Techno from 1991 out of the soon-to-be-rave-homeland of Germany. 

Throw in other out-and-out lost classics from the likes of Big Baby, Springboard, and Vice, and you have a compilation that stands both as a testament to the enduring genius of house, and as a essential tool for rocking any party. 

Digital customers will also benefit from three bonus tracks - Nick Holder’s 2001 smash Erotic Illusions, Foremost Poets’ Reasons to be Dismal, and DHS’s epic deep jam House of God ($50 mix) which are also available on Poker Flat 12"es.

A tough collection of Techno & House styles collide with Soulful electronics and touches of Dub and Jungle for an album of finely crafted, sculptural, storytelling, and no-nonsense club music. 

John Barera and Will Martin’s musical partnership grew out of a close friendship. Their chemistry with production and DJ’ing has been honed through many years of working, and sometimes living, together. Both have a wide ranging appreciation for all kinds of music, filtered through a love for house and techno which brings them together. 

The recording process for ‘Proceed to the Root’ started almost immediately after their first album ‘Graceless’ came out. That was when they wrote the track ‘Golden Hour’. There was a lot of momentum after the release of the debut album and buoyed by it’s reception, they knew they wanted to do another album together and started writing for the next one right away. Although they’ve released a couple EPs since the album, all of those records had been recorded before it came out. So ‘Proceed to the Root’ is really the beginning of the next chapter for them and their music. 

There was a lot of transition in their lives going on during the writing of the record: chiefly being Martin moved to New York and got married, so they weren’t just writing music casually after work together anymore, and they were never going to be roommates again. Each session was very deliberate, or was happening where they could fit it in. This included doing edits at Gatwick airport, writing synth pads on a night train to Germany and spending a blackout day in Berlin producing by candlelight. Thus, each track on ‘Proceed to the Root’ was born under a different sign, bottling moments across the course of many years and settings, yet the pair manage to combine it all into a cohesive whole.

Eugenio Baldacci was born in Pisa (Italy) in 1993. Vinyl lovers and oldschool mixstyle, he warmed the dance floor to artists like Alex Neri, Giovanni Verrina, John Heckle, Francesco Farfa, Lucy, Tom Trago, Clockwork & Avatism, Mountkimbie, Marco Effe , Romano Alfieri, Fabrizio Maurizi and more. 
His style is recognized and appreciated for the complexity of combining old school sounds with modern minimalist lines creating very heavy-delicate sound spaces.
After appearing on labels like Afterworks Sounds and Boreal Recordings is ready to release his first album called "Hypnagogic", six tracks long trip between classical and concrete music combined with a minimalist style, inside with a remix of "Hypnagogic" by crazy and @#%& BCFHBH.
