Significant Other - Gomek

Wilted Woman is the primary music alias of Elizabeth L Davis. Over the last decade, she has been active as a performer, composer, and radio artist. Davis regularly collaborates with Silvia Kastel as Shakey, with Christoph de Babalon as Suds, and with Nick Klein.

Her left-field approach to electronic music emerges from an experimentally minded and refreshingly unapologetic attitude, forged in the punk and DIY scenes of the East Coast of the United States. Since 2014, she lives in Berlin, Germany and holds down a monthly slot as DJ Puddle on Cashmere Radio.

After five years of hosting some of our favourite artists in some of our most beloved spaces across Bristol, it only made sense that we’d pull something together into a single object. This compilation features 16 tracks from 16 different artists that have performed with us over the previous half decade, and feels like it comes at a turning point, not just for us, but also for our city.

Most locals will know there’s been a steady decline of the venues and spaces, that would kindly or perhaps surprisingly let promoters like us and many of our friends host events (two of our previous homes have permanently shut, The Brunswick Club and the Surrey Vaults). Now, there’s an exciting feeling of renewal, as we’re starting to see emerging opportunity and growing optimism with the arrival of new places like Strange Brew and Mickey Zoggs, amongst others. In a broader context, we’re also seeing a return from an extended, and unexpected hiatus for reasons we’re sure you’re already more than aware of.

We hope this compilation brings back memories of sweaty crowds, warm flat stout, and trampling glass in front of an oversized sound system in a cramped, back room.

All proceeds will be donated to independent music venues in Bristol, in light of recent events.
