In addition to the "Best Of Ambient" compilation from John Beltran, two remixes are made to honour one of our favourite electronic music producers of all time. The a-side gives us a reinterpretation of "Brilliant Flood" from rising star Kassem Mosse together with his studiomate Mix Mup. This remix smoothly pimps up the track whilst leaving the atmosphere of the original intact. On the b-side, Sven Weisemann made a composition as a tribute to John Beltran, which contains elements of different original cuts. The result is Sven's Glorify Tribute Mix, a dreamy epic adventurous nine-minute masterpiece in three parts.

Rings Around Saturn (aka Rory McPike, Dan White) presents six minutes of bottomless rave as arpeggiating bass synths suggest 303s without ever going full acid – the bass tone growls for the entirety of the track while syncopated drip drop synths provide the counter melody. Blasts of white noise remind of nightclub smoke machines and alongside manipulated bird calls contributes to the humidity and density of the tracks overall soundscape.

2017 sees Dekmantel celebrating its 10th anniversary. A decade ago, the Amsterdam crew threw their first party in the Dutch capital; two years later Dekmantel Records followed. To celebrate this special occasion, the label will release ten EPs over the course of 2017 – every month one, starting in March, with the first EP dropping today - from artists that have shaped them into what they are today. On the bill are, amongst others, Ricardo Villalobos, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Fatima Yamaha, Legowelt, and Tom Trago.

For this series, Dekmantel invited producers who are close to their hearts, have been with them since day one or made a big musical impact on the crew. Amongst these are longtime friends like Juju & Jordash, Palms Trax, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Joy Orbison and Young Marco. Apart from these seasoned names, it’s with great pleasure to have welcome newcomers including Huerco S, Ectomorph, Shanti Celeste, Syracuse and Levon Vincent onboard. Last but certainly not least; a couple of stone cold geniuses will be responsible for a track on the series as well. Amongst them are Can percussionist Burnt Friedman, Donato Dozzy, Tony Allen, The Egyptian Lover and Ricardo Villallobos. 

The second special EP comes from striking electronic artist Call Super—who returns after his 2016 EP on the label—and party starting house star Shanti Celeste who makes her debut after many great EPs on labels like Apron and Secretsundaze. Call Super offers ‘Fluenka Spoke’, a multi layered rack with shimmering synths and pads and glitchy beats down low. Shanti’s ‘Hinoki’ then shows off the producer’s more techno side with a tough and urgent banger that trippy sound design and soul infused chords all urging you to dance.

The quiet sense of sadness had been all consuming for so very long. He had struggled to break free from its devious clutches for many years, sometimes at war with himself and others blisteringly deafeated. Under the glow of the moonlight there was a haphazard creature who flew with a sense of chaotic disarray. It buzzed and whizzed between the flickering lights in the hope that it might find some safe place to land amidst the outback. It was a nocturnal fly and lived only for the evening hours in which it might find the glimmering buzz of electrics and the whirring machines. It was drawn to the warmth like some sort of strange, abrupt thermal magnet, small and riotous. 

Brussels-based label Basic Moves return with a collection of tracks from Circadian Rhythms AKA DJ Deg, that charts music the Belgian producer crafted between 1989 and 1994. The six tracks represent his own personal take on the sounds of his NYC and Chicago house heroes at the time; think proto-house and hazy techno. Basic Moves have unearthed these dusty ninetees gems and pressed them on a special double LP for your listening pleasure...
