Having released on Quintessentials in 2019, effgee decided to create his own imprint in which he can combine both music and art/design. As a drummer, the groove plays an important role in his tracks. Chris Hanna has been at the forefront of Irish electronic music for over eight years, first through his work under Unknown with fellow Irish artist Gemma Dunleavy and now as the formidable Carlton Doom. The Belfast based producer has built a reputation as one of the most forward thinking, genre-merging artists on the island, combining his love for techno, breaks and garage into a growing palette of sonic decompression. Now the Belfast hit-man steps up with another exploration of deconstructed techno, screw-face bass and otherwise unknown substances not fit for human consumption.

Opener ‘Binmen Of The Apocalypse’ features a heavy drum-work perfect for peak-time and the type of bassline that lights a fire under any dance-floor; while ‘E-Machine’ adds swing with it’s killer low-end, bouncing between tenacious beats and choppy vocoder samples. Wrapping up the A-side is ‘I Am the Creator’ a signature Carlton Doom track with it’s weighty kick-drums and uncompromising structure, bulldozing it’s way through your speakers.

On the flip ‘Insects and Jelly’ and ‘Scatterbrain’ share the same DNA; both seeping with personality and a total disregard for the rules; as the EP then comes to a close with a high-velocity ‘I Am The Creator’ remix by one of Manchester’s finest - Interplanetary Criminal.

With this EP James Bangura has definitely taken me to another place musically. It certainly is the deepest record on any of the Holding Hands labels and yet I was so drawn to the tracks. Something about the weight of the sub just called to me and then shot me off into an imaginary club space. I could feel myself swaying with my eyes closed in a dark space with enormous subs and it felt right.

There is a real dream like quality to this collection and at the same time there is level of bite just beneath the surface. You listen and float but at the same time there is a sense of unease that comes from the off-kilter rhythms and sounds that appear from time to time.

They may not be the straight to the face hair raisers that you might expect from a release that I’m involved in but you will find that if you take them to the right space they will definitely have the power to create impact and moments of insight.

Following releases on A R T S, Scuffed and Holding Hands to name but a few, he is best known for both his live performances and DJ sets of broken beat techno, electro, mutated bass, post-trance and everything in between.

On remix duties enters Desert Sound Colony (Holding Hands/Dr Banana), portraying his own inimitable two-step spin on 'Blizzard'. Utilising the pads to create a unique air that sits around a playful and warm bassline, the choice of remixer truly sits perfectly with the overall palate of the record.

Delsin welcomes Jayson Wynters @jwynters into the fold for a four-track EP that embodies techno as a vibrant, expressive artform with the ability to uplift. The Birmingham-based producer’s sound champions impulse and feeling over perfectionism. He’s not afraid to push the synths into the red and get some dirt on the drums, conjuring up a feeling more akin to the grit and grime of real life than sterile, perfectionist production.

Wynters has already slipped out releases on Don’t Be Afraid, Phoenix G and Ornate Music, erring towards deeper strains of hardware-oriented house and techno but also displaying an instinct for broader tempos and rhythms. He’s got the vocabulary to rush at 140 and break up the beats as much as lock into a steady, heady roller.

On The Affect Heuristic, Wynters strides forth with his electrifying machine language which calls to mind the feverish, psychedelic tweaking and layering of visionaries like Dan Curtin and Lee Purkis (In Sync). The style shifts from track to track, leading with the cascading arps and rowdy leads of ‘Trace Minerals’ before swerving towards the springy electro-techno of ‘The Hunted’. ‘Crypto’ plots a darker, faster course into a vivid soundchasm sculpted out of low-passed impulses and spectral synth shapes. ‘Tehutis Law’ brings a distinct Motor City funk, loaded with wiggling accents to the groove from the bottom end right up to the high frequencies.

Wynters’ touch is highly developed, cast in technicolour, and it sounds incredibly rich in your ear, but it’s the rawness of the feeling which makes this an important addition to the long and winding legacy of techno music. The artwork – a canny meld of bold geometry, bright colours and rough textures from Jeroen Erosie (3024), Erris Huigens (Graphic Surgery) and Tijl Schneider – responds to the music in a wholly appropriate way. In a field littered with polished, monochrome clones, it’s artists like Wynters that truly shine.

Italian producer Nico Lahs’ Discogs page is impressive to say the least. Not only are there a LOT of releases under a whole host of pseudonyms but we’re talking diverse and coveted labels and a host of credits which show Nicola Loporchio has music flowing through his veins. With tougher-sounding music finding a home on Hot Haus and Royal Oak, his deeper leanings have been picked up by Dan Curtin for Metamorphic and Sasha for Last Night On Earth, not to mention all his Balearic-inspired Cosmic Garden material. And now we’re proud to add Delusions Of Grandeur to that highly respectable list!

Got Me Coming Back is an EP in the old-school sense. Four tracks which give us four different sides of Nico Lahs, kicking things off with the title track and most clubfocused pick of the bunch. A punchy, percussive house groove with that touch of MPC swing Nico is known for lays the foundation for a funky bassline and incessant speech sample. Subtle string pads are introduced, adding a touch of widescreen atmospherics without taking away from the rolling vibe, creating one of those secret weapon tracks which will create just the right mood on the dance-floor.

Deep Down In My Soul melds crunchy live hi-hats, echoing piano chords and dubby analogue keyboard lines into something unique and other-worldly. Once again, the groove is kept rolling and unfussy, Nico working his magic with little touches of colour coming from his synths to compliment the minimal, stripped back arrangement.

Flipping over we have Your Sweet Loving which drops the BPM a touch for a lowslung, slinky funker of a track which will sound so sweet at the after-hours. Off beat hats, flamming claps and noodling moogy solo might not sound like an instant hit but when you introduce deep stabs and killer bassline it becomes more then the sum of its parts.

Closing out this stunner of an EP we have How’s Life? That classic B2 kinda track which so often becomes your favourite on the record… Nico takes things in a jazzier direction cutting up fretless bass, fusion guitar lick, Fender Rhodes and filtering ride cymbals leaving us on a high and proving why he’s such a respected and consistent producer.
