Mohawk Valley Formula moves away from their usual analogue sounds to serve up three-floor facing techno gems on Blumoog Codec.
This pair hails from Southeast London and makes thrilling live techno with real warmth and depth. In the past, they have dealt in organic soundscapes and raw analogue textures. This EP finds them evolving their sound and heading directly to the heat of a peak-time dance floor. It has fantastic pulsing rhythms that aim to evoke the feeling of being lost in a rave in the early hours of the morning.
Visceral opener 'Aquatic Layer' is powered by a rugged acid line that underpins the smooth but cantering drums. There is an absorbing sense of darkness and tension throughout and it is added to by flashes of silvery percussion which whip about the mix. Add in rumbling bass and you have some high-grade dance floor pressure. 'Inside Apollo' is an excellently streamlined cut that burrows late into the night. The fizzing synth lines make for a paranoid mood as they roam about the mix and the chunky drums race on at high speed. It's both heady yet physical as the synths grow ever more intense. Lastly, 'Urban Silence' is another deep warehouse techno track that is stripped back but impactful. The drums are relentless, the hits coarse, and the powerful bass fills the track with a shadowy intrigue.
These are three stylish techno tracks that work the head as much as the heel.

@sequencias celebrate 10 Years in the game with a compilation shining light on their stellar back catalogue. Our pick is Metropolis ‘A Machine of Desire’. First released in 2013, this murky and psychedelic track has most definitely stood the test of time though.

Bart van Rijn’s STUG has long been a source of great inspiration for in-the-know heads. His latest reminds us of the fact, as the label head snaps up one of contemporary electronic music’s most alluring characters for the label’s ninth such outing. Step forward British
producer Works Of Intent (fka R.O.S.H.), who delivers a classy record courtesy of the magnificent Storm EP. Backed by a remix by the main protagonist himself, it also features a remix from prolific Swedish, Skudge.
Kicking off proceedings is 'Storm', a peak-time cut that’s layered with killer synths and a meandering baseline that’s both deep and driving. Hypnotic but also endlessly groovy, it gets us underway in seriously assured fashion.
'Glacial (Club Mix)' sees the producer turn his hand
to more acid-focused plains, and it too has more than enough about it to move the floor.
The 'Terrace Mix' of Glacial, meanwhile, is no slouch, with this no less enticing than its younger brother.
Works Of Intent then returns to 'Storm' via his 'Lorenz System' remix. A far cry from the original, it plays out in intriguing fashion, with its heavenly, almost trance-leaning backbone an interesting foil for its twinkling melodies and larger-than-life baseline.
Closing out matters is Skudge’s heads-down, no-nonsense interpretation of 'Glacial'. As ever, the remix work is really on point, and though they omit much of the original’s intriguing acid lines, the drums and the underlying baseline do some serious damage here. All things considered, this is an all-round banging EP that nearly signals STUG’s intentions for the year ahead.

Vernacular Records is proud to announce the launch of a new series called “Vernacular Fields”. In this series, label worked with an Armenian photographer, Sarkis Torossian, who did the visuals. His work is not only about developing analogue photos of landscapes, there is whole transforming process of the image afterwards.
After developing, he digitalises the picture and modifies it to realise, by hand, monochromic prints on a drawing paper. 
The outcome is a unique visual on every print, worthy of a numerical paint. “Vernacular Fields” is about the work of a physical object on small series. The EP with a visual by Sarkis in a 10” format, a USB stick with the release and a digital file of the artwork, all inserted in a 10” vinyl cover. This will be limited to 20 editions, the EP will also be available in digital format.
In terms of music, the format is a 4 titles EP including a featuring with another Vernacular Records resident. This first series is opened by our resident Ashyl called “Polar Lights”. 4 tracks of “Epic Breakbeat”, thought as a journey around his universe, it includes a feat. With label resident Clery.
