It was a joy to play the warm up set at Optimo's New Year's Day party in The Berkeley Suite earlier this month. The night started at 8pm (until 4am...so a long night) and the room took a while to get busy so I felt it was completely acceptable to veer into the stranger atmospheric territories of my record collection. By half an hour or so in, people had started arriving and dancing so things pick up around halfway through but I still keep the tempo down for a leisurely build. Just a little warm-up mini-mix.

I played these tracks from 8pm-8.30pm before Tony Morris came on. I did play a longer set after him too, but the DJ booth was up in a pulpit in the corner of the room, had no monitor and the sound sounded really bassy from up there so although I got compliments for the music, it's far from a perfect mix with several shonky mixes and some transitions that just go on for far too long, so that part is being scrapped, alas. Hope you like this little brief taster.

Solid Steel (16th December) In Hour 1 we welcome Cologne based DJ and Producer Lena Willikens. She is known for her long term residency at Salon Des Amateurs in Dusseldorf spinning her wide taste in music and she's also a dedicated member of the Cómeme records tribe. Her name is frequently on the label’s party bills and she runs the globally famed monthly radio show “Sentimental Flashback” for Radio Cómeme. She had this to say;

"This last mix of 2016 is dedicated to everybody have been dancing with me this year! Further a big shout to all producers, record dealers, label makers who kept on feeding me with exciting music! Hope you enjoy the mix - see you in 2017!!"

You can catch Lena Willikens on an Australia tour between 30.12. and 07.01 with appearances at Camp Nong Festival, Animals Dancing NYD Festival, Cool Room Melbourne and Club 77 Sydney.
