Tresor (German for safe or vault) is an underground techno nightclub in Berlin and a record label.

History:

The club was founded in March 1991 in the vaults of the former department store Wertheim at Leipziger Strasse 126-128 in Mitte, the central part of East Berlin, next to the Potsdamer Platz. The history of the club goes back to 1988 when the electronic music label Interfisch opened the Ufo Club in Berlin. Ufo was the original centre of Berlin house and techno, but due to financial problems that club closed in 1990.
After Ufo closed, Interfisch's head, Dimitri Hegemann, and some investors in the club found the new space in East Berlin. This was advantageous timing, as it was only a few months before Germany unified. The vaults under the Wertheim department store proved to be the perfect location for a club, and Tresor quickly became the place to be in Berlin. Tresor continued to be a popular club, having expanded and reconstructed continuously several times to include an outdoor garden area, and a second "Globus" floor. The Tresor floor in the basement was reserved specifically for hard techno, industrial and acid music, while Globus was featured mainly more mellow house sound. The record label Tresor Records was founded soon after the club first opened, in October 1991. Featured artists on the label include Jeff Mills, Blake Baxter, Juan Atkins, Robert Hood, Drexciya, Stewart Walker, Joey Beltram, DJ Surgeon, Pacou, Cristian Vogel and many others.
In 2004 the documentary "Tresor Berlin: The Vault & the Electronic Frontier" was released. Directed by Mike Andrawis, it features interviews with Hegemann, Carola Stoiber, and DJs & artists associated with the club & label. The film covers the period from Hegemann's involvement with the Fishladen and UFO clubs in Berlin-Kreuzberg to the final months prior to Tresor's closure.
Tresor closed on 16 April 2005, after several years' prolonged short-term rent. The city sold the land to an investor group to build offices on the Leipziger Straße location. It was open for each night of April 2005, with the final event starting the Saturday night with queues stretching all the way down the road, and still going Monday morning.
Tresor reopened on 24 May 2007 in the decommissioned southern tract of the combined heat and power plant Heizkraftwerk Berlin-Mitte in Köpenicker Straße. 
Since November 2019 the club has a subsidiary in the city of Dortmund called Tresor.West. 
In September 2022, Tresor published a photobook, Tresor: True Stories, to document the past 30 years of its history.

The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule, and is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.

Ignition Technician is a techno production team from Leeds, consisting of Richard Wilkinson and Pete Simpson.

In 1999, Carl Cox was one of the first to discover them and played early productions on dubplates. Soon other DJs such as Dave Clarke, Laurent Garnier, Joey Beltram, Billy Nasty, Pete Tong, Judge Jules, Jon Peel and Colin Murry also played their records, which temporarily pushed them into the MTV dancefloor charts and brought them appearances on BBC Radio One.

Wilkinson is the owner of the labels Pirate Audio, Notorious North and Dj Special Needs. Together with Jon Nuccle and Mark Turner, he is also a shareholder in the label Player. Together with his studio partner Pete Simpson, he has already released over 150 records, including on numerous other labels such as Primate, Tortured, Tronic, Potential, Fine Audio, TechnoPassion and Planet Rhythm.

Ignition Technician has worked with numerous producers such as The Advent, Space DJ's, Angel Alanis, Glenn Wilson, Cave, Marko Nastic, Jel Ford, DJ Bam Bam, DJ Urban, Rino Cerrone, Mark Antonio, Mike Humphries, Trevor Rockcliffe, DJ Preach and DJ Misjah.

Ignition Technician has already played in Europe and toured Japan, Australia, Brazil and the USA.

Rino Cerrone was born in Naples in 1972. His spirit of adventure already brought him in a youth age to take part to the national motorcycle competitions, getting good results. But evidently his objectives went beyond of the motorcycling and his passion for music immediately grew up. It was in fact at the end of the Eighties that Rino started to get in touch with musical reality that contributed to the formation of his actual style. In the adolescent 
age he participated to the punk and rock concerts around Italy, and he started to draw near to the underground scene of squatters and illegal parties. He was fascinated then by new sonorities proposed by groups as Orb and Future Sound of London, whose dreamy and chill out atmospheres immediately, captured his attention, and they increased his curiosity toward electronic music.  

From Psychic Warriors of Gaia to Zoom records, from Autechre to Richie Hawtin, Rino lived the first  ‘90s  in their best mystical-creative fervour. Naples shows itself careful to the new international ferments. Paul Daley, Darren Emerson, Derrick May, Dave Clarke, and lots of other, already played at least one time in his city. A chasing thirst of rhythmical weavings and sonorical daps became inevitable. Rino  lives the pioneering parties by Ivan & Susy, and frequents the after hours from Space Race, soon becoming resident DJ. 

Intrigued in the productive element of dance music, he purchases  in 1995 a second hand Juno 106, starting the construction of what is actually his recording studio. A significant experience in the Q-Men group makes his début in 1997, with the publication of the first record X phase up, on Marco Carole’s Design Music. Soon after Speaker Attack, Phont Music, Relentless and Primate follow. In 1999 ho registers his own label Rilis records, whom first two numbers made it one of the most prestigious labels in the world techno panorama.  

In 2001 he released excellent ep as Back To The Basics,  (Genetic); Convert Filter, (Terminal M); Reset ep, (SAW Recordings), Symmetric ep (Zenit).  Between 2002 and 2004  tracks are been published on Orion, Analytic Trail, Sketch,  Kombination Research. Many remixes:  First Step (Isoghi)  Subtractive Synthesis VI Remixes, (Synewave), 
Recreations (Kombinatoin  Research), Contact ep (Funktion  Records), Club System 2005 (Sony BGM Music Entertainment) to mention some. 

The appearances on compilation and collections are several: “DE 9 Closer to the Edit”, (Minus)”, which contains together with other works by Rino  the  famous  “Optical Way”,  also present on “Relentless Beats” vol.1 e2, on “Vision”, for “Combined Forces”, and on Cristian Varela and Tony Verdi compilation “Salon de Mezclas” for “Serial Killer Vinyl”. Moreover: Yul Records; Eukatech, XXX Records, Music Man Records, Clubstar, ZYX, Subliminal, Intec, MIXmag, Ovum. 

From 1999 to 2003 Rilis produced 10 hi-quality releases, which  soon made it a cult label, with represses and impressive sells. In 2004 was born the Special Edition project, a collection of the very best minimal techno tracks, with his unmistakable style. Plus the new Rilis RMX project, born in 2005, where international artists remix the last 7 years Rilis hits. The same year a brand new  label project: Loose Records. The label has the goal to produce and 
promote young talents. 

Rino Cerrone  spins  since 2000 in the world best festivals and clubs. He has played  in big events such as:  I Love 
Techno, Innercity, Awakenings. From Japan to South America, his schedule was always busy. His dark-funky style and his excellent DJ sets, make him gain consent all over the world.

Unfortunately, Rino has passed away at the age of 52. Rest in peace!
