With over 20 years experience under his belt, Ben Sims has a well-deserved reputation as one of the world's most in-demand and leading techno DJs - a tight, energetic mixer who skilfully weaves together his own distinctive blend of tough funk and hardg..
From early formative days earning his stripes spinning hip hop, house and rave on pirate radio, and at parties around Essex and East London, through the 90's as an ever more in demand DJ, and on into the new millennium as a label boss, producer and internationally recognised techno legend in his own right, Ben Sims has spent all his conscious life exploring all facets of underground dance music 

Throughout that time, the man has honed his reputation as a tight, energetic mixer who skilfully weaves together his own distinctive blend of tough funk and hardgrooves, often using three-deck wizardry and plenty of dexterity.  Be it at clubs like Fabric London, Atomic Jam, Berghain, Florida 135, or any number of festivals around the world, Sims' sets are powerful, memorable, and unique, while constantly pushing the boundaries of a DJ set - utilising a   mesmerizing blend of vinyl, CDs, and software.

As well as carving a reputation as one of the world's leading techno DJs, Ben has curated many of his own revered labels over the years.  Chief amongst them is Theory - an imprint this year celebrating it's 40th release, that counts amongst it's supporters contemporary connoisseurs like Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, and the old guard of Dave Clarke, Robert Hood, Rolando and more - proof, then, that Sims is on the form of his life production wise.

Riding high on the wave of critical acclaim from his cultured debut long player on Drumcode, 2011's Smoke & Mirrors, an album that voyages into Sim's unique take on techno, coupled with authentic house outings, thanks to guest appearances from Chicago's Tyree Cooper and Detroit's Blake Baxter, whilst also showcasing plenty of dubbed-out and grainy textures.

Sims has put his name to more than 50 releases in the last two decades.  During those years, there has also been a steady stream of high profile remixes of scene heavyweights, including Jeff Mills, Adam Beyer, Kevin Saunderson and Chris Liebing, on labels du jour like AXIS, KMS, CLR and Drumcode, all of which have won as much critical praise as they have crossover success. 

Despite his veteran status in the scene, Sims has always been keen to evolve.  Alongside Kirk Degiorgio, he is co-founder & curator of Machine - a clubnight which focuses on new, unreleased, & upfront music; it's primary home in London, but with editions all across Europe each year. His 'Run it Red' radio show, broadcast via NTSlive and podcasted afterwards, also serves to solely highlight new music.

Tresor (German for safe or vault) is an underground techno nightclub in Berlin and a record label.

History:

The club was founded in March 1991 in the vaults of the former department store Wertheim at Leipziger Strasse 126-128 in Mitte, the central part of East Berlin, next to the Potsdamer Platz. The history of the club goes back to 1988 when the electronic music label Interfisch opened the Ufo Club in Berlin. Ufo was the original centre of Berlin house and techno, but due to financial problems that club closed in 1990.
After Ufo closed, Interfisch's head, Dimitri Hegemann, and some investors in the club found the new space in East Berlin. This was advantageous timing, as it was only a few months before Germany unified. The vaults under the Wertheim department store proved to be the perfect location for a club, and Tresor quickly became the place to be in Berlin. Tresor continued to be a popular club, having expanded and reconstructed continuously several times to include an outdoor garden area, and a second "Globus" floor. The Tresor floor in the basement was reserved specifically for hard techno, industrial and acid music, while Globus was featured mainly more mellow house sound. The record label Tresor Records was founded soon after the club first opened, in October 1991. Featured artists on the label include Jeff Mills, Blake Baxter, Juan Atkins, Robert Hood, Drexciya, Stewart Walker, Joey Beltram, DJ Surgeon, Pacou, Cristian Vogel and many others.
In 2004 the documentary "Tresor Berlin: The Vault & the Electronic Frontier" was released. Directed by Mike Andrawis, it features interviews with Hegemann, Carola Stoiber, and DJs & artists associated with the club & label. The film covers the period from Hegemann's involvement with the Fishladen and UFO clubs in Berlin-Kreuzberg to the final months prior to Tresor's closure.
Tresor closed on 16 April 2005, after several years' prolonged short-term rent. The city sold the land to an investor group to build offices on the Leipziger Straße location. It was open for each night of April 2005, with the final event starting the Saturday night with queues stretching all the way down the road, and still going Monday morning.
Tresor reopened on 24 May 2007 in the decommissioned southern tract of the combined heat and power plant Heizkraftwerk Berlin-Mitte in Köpenicker Straße. 
Since November 2019 the club has a subsidiary in the city of Dortmund called Tresor.West. 
In September 2022, Tresor published a photobook, Tresor: True Stories, to document the past 30 years of its history.

Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @joton for its eightieth episode of Amplify Series.

Joton is synonymous with dark techno, iron, futuristic and sensitive, all mixed with the precision and speed of a surgeon. His powerful personality and marked charisma, as DJ and producer, is based on a stylistic maturity, a professional serenity and a well-founded artistic criterion, always in constant and restless progression, through which everything that he pricks and produces is identified. His sound is industrial, analog and mechanical. Dystopia and the club are discussed. Detroit, Berlin and Birmingham.
Starting from the very marrow of techno. It is physical, blunt, modular and exciting.
 
His label `Newrhythmic´ has been more than 15 years supporting high-octane techno by native and foreign artists. Joton’s tracks have been published by labels such as Fabric, Symbolism, Planet Rhythm, Format, Dynamic Reflection, More Than Less ... and have been charted and screened by artists of the great size of Ben Klock, Dvs1, Rodhad , Dave Clarke, Ben Sims, Oscar Mulero, Adam Beyer, Surgeon, Truncate….  As a DJ, he has evolved from his beloved and traditional vinyl to the current digital format. Thanks to it, Jotón enriches his sessions by providing an added boost to his innate ability to connect it to the dance floor.
 
In 2015, a milestone occurred in his career with the publication of his first album 'Casting Out Nines' that garnered excellent reviews by the public and specialized press. It was considered one of the best works in long format of that year and this placed Joton in the focus of the entire global techno scene. He launched this album in 10 countries on 3 different continents.
 
In this 2017 Joton release his second great project called 'R3silient', present his purest and analogical side; Returning, once again, to the primitive, to the seminal, to the roots of techno. In 2018 two new works will see the light, Antioquia on the German label ODD EVEN and Extreme Mesures on RAW RAW, again capturing the industry's attention.
 
Joton's global touring schedule has filled up with performances at the most renowned venues in the world including Under club in Buenos Aires, Tresor in Berlin, Le Batofar in Paris, Corsica Studios in London, Grelle Forelle in Vienna, Propaganda in Moscow, Domunne in Tokyo, Vurt in Seoul, Razzmatazz and Moog in Barcelona, Stardust and Fabrik in Madrid, among others.

FrenzyPodcast.076 Flits

The 76th FrenzyPodcast will be provided by a dear friend of Frenzy and homegrown talent, Flits. Despite entering the scene quite recently, it is certain that he is here to stay. His sound can be described as high intensity techno, with dark, groovy and hypnotic characteristics with a slight touch of old school. 

For Frenzy Flits created a 2.5 hour set in which he fully shows himself. Flits told us that it was a conscious choice to play a long set, because he wants to take the listeners on a journey. He strives to hold the attention of the listeners by holding on to a constant flow throughout his mix, and by showing a lot of diversity of his capabilities.
