In 2013 Channel 4 scored a major success with Utopia, a six part series revolving around a group of graphic novel fans who discover a terrible secret. Stylish, intelligent and cinematic, the second series in 2014 reinforced the impact of series one and gained the show an even larger following. Integral to the action is Chilean composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer's original music for the programme, recognised by the Royal Television Society who awarded it Best Music (Original Score), Record Collector who gave it a five star review and Mojo who placed it at number four in their Top 10 Soundtracks of the year. This 2CD set delivers more of his unique sounds and has once more been nominated for a Royal Television Society award Best Music (Original Score).

Sandunes, real name Sanaya Aredeshir, is a producer from Mumbai - newly signed to !K7, you can file her textural, meditative sounds next to Cinematic Orchestra, Philip Glass and Bonobo. She's set to release her '11:11' EP in early September, and we're premiering the first taste - title cut 'Eleven:Eleven', below. “My fascination here isn't about the numbers itself, as much as it is about these repetitive occurrences that we’re happy to call coincidences. When I was thinking about what I should name the song, my eyes fell on the time, and it was 11:11,” she explains of the EP's title. Tune in now.

Eartheater unveils a new single, “Below The Clavicle.” It is her first release for PAN since her 2018 album IRISIRI.

Eartheater shares the following about the track: “I wrote ‘Below the Clavicle’ when I was waiting to understand more about a situation before talking about it — when the meaning was still below the clavicle and hadn’t made it up to my head yet. The understanding was still underground — forging in my heart and gut. In my upcoming album, I thought a lot about lava and volcanoes and the formation of stone and mountains.”

A key fixture in the record bags of DJs throughout the past few decades, best known for their unforgettably odd house anthem ‘He Not In’, it’s been some years since Andy Meecham and Dean Meredith last collaborated as Chicken Lips. As such, it’s with no little delight that Phantasy welcomes them back into the fold with one of their most mind-bending tracks yet, accompanied by a remix from a fellow stalwart of the underground, DJ Sotofett.

Instant and assured, ‘Goldenlips’ unrolls like licorice over ten blissful minutes, mining an undercurrent of post-acid house euphoria into a dreamy analogue jam-turned-trip, a soft and rhythmic vision of dancefloor euphoria that demonstrates a mastermind session of tension and release from two individuals with decades of experience in tipping dancefloors upside-down.

On the flip, DJ Sotofett continues to deliver the unexpected with a more truncated but no less compelling ‘Golden Funk’ mix. Suddenly rolling back the musical clock to the sun-drenched West Coast of the mid-nineties, the result is an oozing, bottom-heavy rework so delicious, it might even have united Puffy and Snoop.
