Preamble to '10 Stations' post 3: The Future Was Yesterday

Leading up to the release of the next irr. app. (ext.) album '10 Stations' I'll be posting a series of tracks related to the construction of the album. Some posts will be actual excerpts, but most will be alternates & variations made during the development stage, or a combination of different elements used (and sometimes ultimately not used) to work out arrangements & ideas.

Unlike the other preamble tracks posted so far, 'The Future Was Yesterday' is an actual track from the '10 Stations' album. There will be 10 tracks on the album, and this is track #6. It's not particularly representative of the other tracks, but I deliberately started each track using different audio sources so that the results would be varied. This one was started using electronic sources, although some 'concrète' and various other elements have been integrated for added commercial appeal.

UNDERGROUND, they feed off the COUNTER-CULTURE, their minds have vast experi-MENTAL capacity, they search through the AVANT GARDEn, they DAMn the MAINSTREAM, and live the SURreal life. They are the “Dunning-Kruger” of their coterie. They are Illusional Engineers, Dystopian Spelunkers, Desolation Cartographers, Misanthropic Therapists, Pragmatic Escapists, Clinical Obscurists, Oxymoronic Magistrates, Elaborate Equivicators, Elevator Operators, Hallucinogenic Fungi Analysts, and Restroom Attendants, to name but a few prestigious occupations. Never underestimate the Yellow Salamand’r.

(Started making experimental music in ‘81 at 18 years old with circuit bent devices. 
Did some underground tape trading. Also made field recordings when working in a steel mill at night. (Lost all cassettes from that era.) Domestic life halted almost all artistic endeavours for many years. Along came 2013, and my world and technology had changed drastically. I started back into music using an iPhone and various technological detritus. I had shifted from lo-fi analog, to lo-fi digital. This is where I am still at nowadays. I can create unique experimental music, and yet still be satisfied with the outcome. I truly enjoy working with minimal equipment allowing me to be challenged by the limitations. (Inability is often the mother of restriction, and restriction is the great mother of inventive performance. - Holger Czukay) Even my visual art has gone from analog (painting, drawing) to digital collage. I don’t use AI and even though I think it will one day have it’s place in the art world, it just doesn’t align with my personal principles. Current b-lectric is main sound project by bB- (Benas Buivydas, sound explorer from Lithuania). It consists of various sound experiments made with modular synths, tape loops, noise boxes and field recordings.

Beginning in 2022, Lord Brocton, a sweet potato, acquired the assets of Mayday Records and is now in control of this page.
Mayday Records was created to release the recordings of Mr. Phil Aphonic, mostly under the name of Infant Mortality Rate (IMR). Phil also occasionally puts out  music under the alter-ego of frybrain, who is working on a variant of the chopped and screwed style he calls 'scraped and chewed', and most recently Amphibian Fields. Phil was also a member of the noise group Turmoil in the Toybox, and 90's space-punk band Sad Pygmy.
